Welcome, Hermosa Valley Students and Families,
As I begin my fourth year as your principal, I am reminded of the many lessons I've learned from this incredible community. Some of these lessons have come from the dedicated educators within our walls, some from the students who have walked these halls before you, and others from the parents who have courageously shared big things with me. Over these past three years, I've also learned a great deal about myself.
We all carry various labels as we navigate through life. Some of these labels reflect fundamental aspects of who we are—like mother, wife, daughter, and teacher for me, or student, child, parent, or grandparent for you. Other labels may not fully capture our complexity, but they still influence our experiences and how others perceive us. These might include being seen as funny, smart, quiet, different, or athletic.
This year, let's commit to celebrating every part of who we are as individuals. Let’s be brave, honest, vulnerable, and excited. Wear your favorite color with pride, sing your favorite song at the lunch tables, and share your thoughts and ideas openly in your classes. In return, let’s take a big step away from judging others. Instead, allow the boldness of those around you to fuel the presentation of your own true self. Your authenticity is your superpower—embrace it, and know that we are here to support you!
I am honored to carry the label of your principal. It’s going to be a fantastic year at Hermosa Valley. Welcome back!
Warmly,
Jessica Bledsoe
