We are pleased to announce that Leslie Saltzman, DO, MBA, an original co-founder, is re-joining Rittenhouse Internal Medicine as a practicing physician.

In 2008 when we started the center, Dr. Saltzman had just completed her Internal Medicine residency at Penn and spent years practicing here. She is an extraordinary clinician and diagnostician and was beloved by her patients who I am sure are very excited by this announcement. Dr. Saltzman understands the importance of high quality primary care and delivering comprehensive, evidence-based healthcare exclusively for women both through office visits and our expanding virtual delivery through telemedicine.

Providing Safe Care During the Covid-19 Pandemic Using Telemedicine
By: Dr. Leslie A. Saltzman

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to re-examine some of the basic assumptions we have made about how to deliver healthcare. For decades, annual wellness visits have typically included a physical examination even in patients with no complaints or symptoms. However, a comprehensive review of the medical literature doesn’t support the need for a physical exam as part of the annual visit in most asymptomatic patients. For most patients, the most important component is devising personalized screening and prevention interventions which take into consideration your risk factors and the tradeoffs between benefits, harms, and costs. As a result, we have begun to schedule preventive visits via telemedicine for patients. If labs or a blood pressure screening is required, your clinician may ask you to come in for a brief nursing visit. If you are over 50 or have a chronic condition and it has been over 1 year since your last visit or you are due for a pap test, we will ask you to schedule an appointment in the office. Getting a flu shot this year is particularly important because, like COVID-19, influenza is a respiratory virus and we want to do everything we can to minimize having two respiratory outbreaks circulating simultaneously in our populations.
A Covid-19 Quarantine Reminder
If you have traveled, or plan to travel, to an area where there are high amounts of COVID-19 cases, it is recommended that you stay at home for 14 days
upon return to Pennsylvania.

If you travel to any of the following states, our office enforces that you must quarantine for 14 days before we will see you in-office for an appointment. However, telemedicine is still available.
