You have the opportunity to send school champions on to various levels of competition, including the annual Kane County Regional Spelling Bee on March 17, 2027. The winner of this event is eligible for the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May.

We are currently seeking engaging breakout sessions that offer meaningful learning opportunities for educators across roles, grade levels, and content.

Our primary site will be the Q Center in St. Charles, where hundreds of educators will engage in a day of professional learning and networking.
The goal of each breakout session is to equip attendees with new ideas and strategies that can be used to enhance their instruction and student engagement.

We invite fine arts educators who are interested in sharing their expertise with colleagues to submit a presentation proposal.

Yesterday, Professional Learning Coordinator Jenny Clark held the second workshop in our FREE series to help guide teams through the Illinois State Board of Education’s (ISBE) redesigned accountability system.
ISBE's Supervisor of School/District Improvement, Nick Heckel, joined participants as they explored strategies for communicating accountability outcomes, strengthening leadership team collaboration, and building a culture of shared ownership around continuous improvement efforts.

This Administrator Academy is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively evaluate student growth as part of teacher performance evaluations. The course focuses on addressing implicit bias, differentiating for equity, and coaching teachers more deeply.

With this academy, participants will understand and identify the legal mandates under Section 504; identify the differences between Section 504 and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004; and outline the proper procedures to follow in the development of a Section 504 Plan.

| | The Kane County Student Photography Contest starts soon | | |
Our annual Student Photography Contest begins on Monday, September 14. So far, we have 16 classrooms from across our community participating, and we look forward to seeing the creative shots students take this year! Winners will be announced by the end of each week on our website and social media channels, as well as bi-weekly in this newsletter.
If you are a Kane County high school teacher—whether from public, private, and homeschool settings—you can register at any point throughout the competition. However, this is the last call to do so before week 1 begins. Visit our website for full details, including themes and how to sign up.

We recently launched a new video series aimed at making local resources easier to find and directly connecting families, students, and educators with essential local programs! Each episode spotlights an ROE program or a resource from a community organization and explains what it does, who it serves, and how to access it.
Episode 1 is an introduction to the ROE and to the three words behind everything we do: lead, assist, inspire.
