Welcome to the first school year at Mercaz Academy!

Many people--staff, students, and community members--devoted their summer to making sure that on Tuesday morning, when our students flood through these doors for the first time, they will find a shining new school in our familiar place. With this first of our regular newsletters, we welcome you into our school as well.
A message from our principal, Rabbi Kalman Fogel
The first mitzvah given to the People of Israel, "החדש הזה לכם ראש חדשים ", directs the beit din to begin the Jewish year with the month we became a nation, the month of Nissan. On a deeper level, this mitzvah is speaking directly to us, the Mercaz Academy family....
Come see what we've been up to...
Welcome to Our New Staff Members!

Summer Growth at Mercaz Academy, as featured in The Jewish Home
"...Hands-on” learning began with “hands-in” learning. The group filled the seven garden beds–one of which will remain a bed for shmitta (the agricultural sabbatical year) through the end of this Jewish year–and surrounded the beds with mulch. In the beds, the students planted flowers, herbs, and vegetables for study during the school year..."

Mercaz Tefillah Initiative
Teachers and students in Mercaz Academy are coming together in a brand-new initiative to put more heart and soul into davening. Under the guidance of their tefillah teachers, students will research various tefillot over the course of the year and create an engaging way to share what they’ve learned with other grades. We are looking forward to working together as a school to bring more "mindfulness" to our daily prayers.

We are so proud of our current and former students who volunteered their time and muscles to help us move things into storage this summer! Left to right, Noah Feldman, Caleb Ofer, Sam Ofer, Naftali Nathan.
