Your new school board
A new era has begun for the Carrollton Board of Education following the retirement of long-time board member, Dr. Jimmy Pope. Greg Schulenburg was elected without opposition to fill the Ward Four seat and took his oath of office during the board's work session Thursday. Also taking their oaths following re-election were Greg Dothard, Ward One, and Melanie McLendon, at-large (citywide post). The board also voted for officers with David Godwin elected as chairman for 2020. Seated are Mrs. Katie Williams, Dr. Jason Mount and Mrs. Melanie McLendon. Standing are Supt. Dr. Mark Albertus, Mr. Greg Schulenburg, Mr. Greg Dothard and Mr. David Godwin. MEET THE BOARD

Keep bus safety on your mind
With school now back in session, it is important to remember the importance of school bus awareness and safety. The video above is a quick summary of safety  tips. Keep in mind that if the highway is divided with a grass median or solid barrier (an example would be South Park Street), traffic does NOT have to stop for a school bus traveling in the opposite direction. If there is a divided highway or a highway divided by a turning lane (an example would be North Park Street), traffic moving in the direction opposite the school bus must also stop in addition to traffic traveling in the same direction.

2010 alum Tyler Dost  climbs mountains and research ladder
Hindsight is known to be 20-20, and since this is the year 2020 we thought it would be a fun to reach out to CHS alumni to learn what they are doing now that they have the advantage of experience, education and self-reflection. Our first alum is Tyler Dost, Class of 2010. The former Trojan band member and soccer player stays quite busy and is quite accomplished.  MORE
