The program is for seasoned, C-suite professionals who have risen to the top of their careers and want to reach the next level.

FACULTY/STAFF NOTES
* Murad Antia,  an instructor with the Finance Department, wrote an op-ed piece that was published in the Tampa Bay Times earlier this month. The column, titled "The Impact of Climate Change on Florida's Wealth" discussed how rising seas and more intense hurricanes likely will result in higher taxes just to maintain the state's current standard of living, rather than improve it.

* Sagar Samtani , an assistant professor in the Information Systems and Decision Sciences Department, recently earned the best dissertation award for his work titled "Developing Proactive Cyber Threat Intelligence from the Online Hacker Community: A Computational Design Science Approach." The award came from the Association for Information Systems. Samtani conducts cutting-edge research into cybersecurity, hacking and the dark web.

* Erwin Danneels, an associate professor in the Marketing Department, has written a paper that was published in the Journal of Business Venturing  this month. Titled "Learning from Failure and Firm Innovativeness," the paper discusses, and debunks, the notion that tolerating failure is a step toward innovation. To read the article, click here.

* Diana Hechavarria, an associate professor with the USF Center for Entrepreneurship, will be honored at the Women in Leadership & Philanthropy's 2020 Faculty Excellence Reception on Jan. 30. Hechavarria is among a handful of faculty members who have won the organization's Dr. Kathleen Moore Faculty Excellence Award.

* USF's online programs rank among the nation's best as rated by the U.S. News and World Report, including two graduate programs offered by the business colleges in Tampa and St. Petersburg. The ranking included USF St. Petersburg's online MBA program, which was placed at No. 54 in the nation and the Muma College of Business MBA program, ranked No. 95.


ALUMNI NOTES

* Darryl Ronconi ('88, Finance) was promoted to president of Brookstone Capital Management. Ronconi joined Brookstone in 2015 as chief operating officer.

* Steven H. Fage ('12, Entrepreneurship) is now a producer and host of the "My Niche is Human" podcast.

* Tiffany Eveld Roberts ('12, Business Administration) has joined Morgan & Morgan PA as a litigation attorney. She was previously a prosecutor for the 18th Judicial Circuit.

* Samantha Sandlin ('17, MAcc; '16, Accounting) is now a senior accountant at Carr, Riggs & Ingram. She began her career at the firm in 2018, starting out as a staff accountant.

* Ashley Young ('15, Business Economics; '17, MS, Global Sustainability) is now a citizen-outreach specialist at Grassroots Team, working to inform the community about refugee crises and Amnesty International's responses to them. She previously served as director of engagement for Climate Futures.

* Ted Emerson ('08, MBA) has been promoted to senior human resources manager in Amazon's Transportation Product and Tech Unit. He joined Amazon in 2017 after serving in human resources roles at Bloomin' Brands, Verifone and The Walt Disney Company.

* Marisa Faigen ('11, Finance, Marketing) has been promoted to director of finance with Compass Group USA in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has been with the firm since 2013, starting out as a financial analyst.


* Feb. 17, 10 a.m. the Muma College of Business Open House welcomes potential incoming freshmen. Students will eat in the dining hall, experience a shortened versi on of a real college lecture from a business professor and interact with college faculty, staff, advisers and students.

* Feb. 20, 8:30-10 a.m., Conversation with a CEO featuring Pam Iorio,  former mayor of Tampa, current president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and a USF alumna.  The event takes place at the Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation, 124 S. * March 11, 8:30-10 a.m., Conversation with a CEO featuring David Deno, CEO of Bloomin' Brands, the company that owns several popular eateries including Outback Steakhouse and Bonefish Grill.
