An eventful start to the fall season!
There is a lot to celebrate at Habitat for Humanity Monterey Bay as we start to see the changing color of the leaves. September was an incredible month and we are excited to share all the news with you.
Welcome Hinds and Julien/Politte Families!
On September 29, we held a home dedication ceremony and welcomed our newest homeowners to their homes in Rodeo Creek Court. Rodeo Creek Court is our 11-home development in Live Oak and this dedication marks the 60th home Habitat has built in Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties.

Eurek Hinds, a disabled Navy veteran, is eager to build a strong base of support where his son, Isaac, can grow. He says it means a great deal to him to own a home in the town where he lives, works, and volunteers his time.

The Julien/Politte family, Amber, Luke and their son Leo, lost their rental home in the CZU fires and were living in a recreational vehicle until they found Habitat. They are grateful to be able to own a home in the community they live and work in as educators. Amber is excited she can ride her bike to work! Leo is excited he already has friends living next door!

Home ownership means these families can build strength and stability for themselves and their community.
City of Santa Cruz Proclamation
Sept 29 is Habitat Monterey Bay Day
In honor of Habitat's 60th home, the City of Santa Cruz and Mayor Sonja Brunner honored Habitat Monterey Bay by proclaiming Sept. 29th Habitat for Humanity Monterey Bay Day. We are grateful and humbled by the support and partnership with the City of Santa Cruz
Jazzercise gave our CEO a run for his money!
Huge thanks to Jazzercise who conducted a month-long fundraiser all through September and brought in $5,000 for Habitat. They came to us in August and said, "$5,000, no problem!" and they delivered. Satish Rishi, Habitat CEO, joined them for the kick off party on Sept. 4 and said it was "the hardest workout I've done in years!" Nice work, Satish and Jazzercise!
Thank you Room Real Estate!

Wow, sometimes out of nowhere, you get, not one, but two community businesses raising funds and showing their love for Habitat for Humanity in one month. Room Real Estate held a furniture and decor sale with all benefits going to Habitat. They also donated any furniture that didn't sell to our ReStore. They are still working towards their ambitious goal of raising $10,000.
Thank You Merrill Lynch and Bank of America
On Saturday, Sept. 24, a hard working team from Merrill Lynch Wealth Management came to our new Santa Cruz County ReStore in Watsonville to do a mini-build! They built a playhouse that will be auctioned in our Home for the Holidays Auction in December. With smiles on their faces and paint on their clothes, they spent the day with us. Merrill Lynch is a Bank of America company, who is a key sponsor for Habitat. We appreciate all of you!
The Habitat Board of Directors rolled up their sleeves. Thank you for all you do!

A fun day was had by all when the Board of Directors left the conference table behind and rolled up their sleeves at Rodeo Creek Court. They installed windows, dug holes for irrigation, and planted the beautiful landscaping that will welcome the new homeowners. It was a day of team building and a way for our Board to feel connected literally to the bedrock of Habitat's work.
Welcome Habitat's newest staff members
Please join us in welcoming Lyndsey and Pattie to Habitat for Humanity Monterey Bay.
Lyndsey Marks joined Habitat in August and brings a decade of experience in nonprofit fundraising to her new role as Resource Development Director. She is passionate about the mission of Habitat and eager to meet everyone in our beloved community. She has already rolled up her sleeves on the construction site and helped with landscaping. In her free time, Lyndsey enjoys getting outdoors, running trails, hiking, reading a book on the beach, and spending time with friends. She has lived in Santa Cruz County for over 20 years and loves calling this place home.
Pattie Saso joined Habitat in August and brings years of experience in finance and human resources to her new role as Director of Finance and Human Resources. She is excited to be working with Habitat and looks forward to learning all areas of the organization.  In her free time, Pattie enjoys spending time with her friends and family, cooking and watching the latest movies.
We cannot build the homes, communities, and hope we do without the support of our donors and volunteers. We thank you for your support!
