Happy August Young Minds Family!

We are excited to get the new School Year started this month. Read along to learn about the activities we have planned for the remaining two weeks of Summer and the new academic year!

As mentioned in the email on Friday, Water Days finished at the end of last week. Music classes take place on Mondays and Thursdays currently and are done via Zoom with Ms. Susan. Our hope is that sooner than later we will be able to bring back in-person classes.

We also wanted to take a moment and thank you all for your continued support as we navigate through this pandemic. Especially with the new school year beginning, our priority will remain the health and safety of our students and staff. We will continue with our current screening and safety procedures and heightened sanitizing until further notice.

Week of August 3: Dinosaur Week

Dinosaur Week will be full of prehistoric activities! We get to learn about all the different dinosaurs, and make crafts and games with them. Our students will also get to make their own dinosaur terrariums.
Week of August 10: End-of-Summer Week

This week we prepare to say farewell to our graduating students who begin Kindergarten at the end of the week. We reminisce on the fun summer we experienced together and all the friends we made. We finalize our Memory Books, sing songs and play games for one last week of Summer!

New School Year Begins

Leander ISD begins their new school year on Thursday August 13th. This will be the week of transition from our summer program to our academic year as well. We will say goodbye to those Kindergarteners who will be leaving us and hello to all new students joining us.

At Young Minds, our academic year will begin the week of August 17th, though we will be happy to celebrate First Day of School with our remaining Kindergarteners on their first day of Aug 13th. We'll have a "First Day of School" board ready for children to hold and pose for a photo.
School Year Policy Reminders

In order to have minimal disruption in the classrooms in the mornings, please bring your children in by 8:30am. This will allow the teachers to begin circle time on time and focus on the day's lessons.

Please label all of your child's belongings with their name. Sheets and blankets are sent home for a wash each Friday, so please remember to bring a clean set in the beginning of each week.

As the pandemic time and our enhanced safety procedures continue, we will keep our operating hours at 8:00am-5:00pm for the time being. If any of you have concerns about this, please reach out to Ashanthi or Eliisa, or email us at

Thank you all for working with us and making the mornings smooth for everyone!

Although the COVID-19 case counts seem to be finally stabilizing in Travis County and surrounding areas, we remain devoted to a healthy new school year at Young Minds. We've invested in a professional sanitizing membership and will be getting periodic sanitizing services done at our school by a local company called Dis.In.Fx.

While we have been able to access all of our regular school supplies, we continue to run short on sanitizing wipes and sanitizing sprays. If any of you have access or come across them at stores, please consider donating. We appreciate it!

Holiday School Closures
While we don't have any holiday closures coming up in August, the next one will be on September 7th, when our school will be closed in observance of Labor Day. Mark your calendars!
