Good things come to those who wait - or so we’re told. But the truth is, waiting isn’t passive. It’s uncomfortable, often slow, and if you're like me, frustrating. Sitting in the tension of the unknown moments of life feels unsettling.
Still, in that in-between space, we learn a lot about ourselves. Patience builds character. It sharpens our instincts. It gives us room to grow, to trust our choices, and to believe in the process even when the outcome isn’t visible yet.
Keylight Communications was born from that kind of waiting. It took me nearly two years to finally take the leap from full-time paid work with an organization I loved to build something on my own. I weighed the pros and cons — probably too much — and overanalyzed every possibility. Finally, after several conversations with people who loved me, I knew the timing was right.
And I'm so grateful I did! This team and our clients have been a beautiful gift, and I'm grateful for this work every day. Today, nearly eight years after we first opened Keylight, we use that same discernment as we build relationships with new clients.
Finding the right fit matters - because the work is better, richer, and more impactful when the timing and partnership are right.
Of course, not all waiting is so profound. At home, my husband and I are locked in the annual debate with our children: do we wait until after Thanksgiving to put up the Christmas tree, or is November fair game?
It’s a small, funny reminder that waiting shows up everywhere in life. And maybe that’s the point: each pause, big or small, gives us a chance to practice patience, lean into connection, and trust that good things really are on their way.
