CONCERT BANDReg2
Registration Due August 31
Online registration using our Samohi Bands Online Registration Form is mandatory for all students. This is a homework assignment due by August 31, 2018. Families that registered for Marching Band do NOT need to complete the form again for Concert or Jazz Band.

The registration asks for a direct donation of $250 per concert band student. Your generous donation helps cover the cost of paying sectional instructors, buying and maintaining instruments, acquiring sheet music, and more.

Please consider giving.  Direct donations are our most effective and important way of fundraising for the bands, and we would love to see 100% participation. Any amount you can give is welcome!Meeting

Philharmonic Orchestra Auditions
All interested wind, brass, and percussion musicians are invited to audition for the Samohi Philharmonic Orchestra! Auditions begin Thursday, August 30. Students should visit the orchestra room to sign up. Audition requirements include CBDA scales, a prepared solo of the student's choice, and sight-reading.

Band students who also participate in orchestra get a full grade and rehearse every Wednesday from 5-7 pm. Students who were in Phil last year do not need to audition again to get in, but will audition for seat placement. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Aiello at [email protected]Competitive
Competitive Performance Opportunities
At the request of band parents, we have compiled a list of opportunities for students in grades 9-12 to participate in music competitions outside Samohi, including All-State and All-Southern. See all opportunities and deadlines on the Samohi Band page. Jazz

2019 WIND ENSEMBLE TOUR
Rome Tour - April 6-13, 2019
We hope all of our Wind Ensemble students are getting excited for Rome! Even though the trip happens next spring break, there are several items that need your attention right away. Please read the Rome Tour letter to learn more about the trip, and complete the  Commitment Form and return to  Mr. McKeown no later than September 4th. The first tour payment of at least $500 is also due by September 4th, so please review the  Payment Form for more details on making your payment. We have a large payment due to the tour company by September 1st, so we would love to collect as many payments online as we can by the end of August!  Translators
Spanish Translators
Calling all bilingual community members! We could really use some help getting the band communications translated into Spanish. If you think you could volunteer any time doing this - or if you know of any excellent Spanish immersion students at Samohi who could use the volunteer hours - please send an email to Clare Haygood at [email protected]
