Boys LIT News

For the first time in several years, the Seneca boy's basketball team made the Louisville Invitational Tournament!  After beating DeSales in the opening round, Seneca matched up with Bullit East in the quarterfinal game.  After dispatching Bullit East, the team stunned Ballard in the semi-finals to reach the final game on Saturday, January 19, against No. 1 Seed Trinity.  After a hard-fought game, Seneca received Runner-Up honors in the final game of the LIT.
Kimbro's Jersey to be Retired

Join us on Friday, January 25, for a ceremony to retire Tony Kimbro's basketball jersey.  The ceremony will take place at halftime of the boy's Homecoming game THIS Friday.  Seneca has much to be proud of, not the least of which is our excellent basketball program.  Come celebrate the accomplishments of Tony Kimbro '85.  Girl's game starts at 5:30.  Homecoming Court will be presented between games and the boy's game starts at 7:00.
Friedman Poster Collection

Mayor Greg Fischer and others will  honor the late Julius Friedman (Seneca '61) as his body of more than 200 works of poster art are formally accessioned into the Public Art Collection of the City of Louisville.  The celebration will be on Wednesday, January 22, at 11:30am at the Edison Center 701 West Ormsby Avenue.  The public is welcome to attend.

Julius Friedman's work is internationally acclaimed.  Friedman's work was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and in museums across North America, Asia and Europe. In 2016, Julius Friedman was inducted into the inaugural class of the Seneca High School Hall of Fame.  Friedman died in 2017 but lives on through his work.

Thanks to Seneca Past and Present and other donors, the boy's basketball team was able to participate in the KSA Events Tournament in Orlando, FL prior to the Christmas/Holiday break.  They won their division and Senior Richard Ninamou was MVP of the division!
