Religion/Education VP Corner

I believe that Judaism is a religion based on belief.

Judaism is a monotheistic religion with a belief that there is only one God. It is one of the first things a Jewish child is taught, when we learn to say the Shema,

שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ יְהוָה אֶחָד

Listen Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. We are taught that God created the earth and gave us the Torah to live by. We have never been able to see God nor have we seen an image of God. We can only see things created in the image of God.

Hey USY!

I’m your international Sa/To and today we are going to be seeing which region recycles the most. By regions I mean the states that the regions are a part of. In order to see which region recycles the most, we will go by the percent of their waste that they recycle. First off, the country wide average of waste recycled is 32%, which isn’t great. Recycling is important because it helps save resources and energy, and also lets us put less waste in our landfills.

After doing my research, the region that recycles the most is... Drumroll please…

Hagalil! The region of Hagalil recycles around 62% of waste as of 2022, which is almost double the country’s average!

Chapter Highlight

Cranford/Scotch Plains (NJ)

The Cranford/Scotch Plains (NJ) chapter helped the community prep for Hanukkah. Throughout the month of November, the local Jewish Family Services collected gift donations. The chapter held a program on December 3 to wrap those gifts for families in need and did a little learning on what it means to be thankful and learning different texts that teach us that once we have our "portion" we should be thankful and how to properly show our gratitude. It is so important this time of year to hear and learn this message.
