It is our greatest honor and pleasure to welcome all of you to our new BASIS Campus in Pflugerville, TX. This newsletter will be a chance for you and your students to receive an inside glimpse into BASIS Pflugerville, the amazing events we will hold, updates on construction, and to meet the wonderful teachers and staff who will be part of their day to day.
Meet the Head of School

Seth Shaffer

Seth Shaffer, the Head of School at BASIS Pflugerville, is excited to be serving in this role as a support for our students, families, and teachers. His journey with BASIS Charter Schools began in 2016, and until 2021 he taught classes including Engineering, Drama, Music, and Visual Arts as a Subject Expert Teacher. Mr. Shaffer was nominated and honored to receive the Mathnasium Teacher of the month award in Arizona for outstanding teaching in the classroom and dedication to his students at BASIS Chandler Primary North. In addition to teaching, he served as the developer and advisor of the curriculum for the Engineering Design classes at BASIS Phoenix Central for their Arts Element. He was a founding faculty member of BASIS Austin Primary (teaching K-4 Visual Arts and K-4 Engineering) as well as at BASIS Austin (serving as the Director of Middle School Programs).
Mr. Shaffer earned a Master of Fine Arts in Puppet Arts from the University of Connecticut. His thesis project received international recognition and was published about in Puppetry International and The Puppetry Journal. Mr. Shaffer performed this award-winning one-man show at the National Puppetry Conference, the National Puppetry Festival, Connecticut Repertory Theatre, the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry, and the Detroit Institute of Art. Upon completing his tour, Mr. Shaffer wrote The Dick Myers Project; a book detailing the process of his thesis project, which was then published by Charlemagne Press. Additionally, he earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Theatre Performance and Film Production from The University of Toledo as well as an Associates of Art in Photography and an Associates of Science in Botany from Northwest State Community College.

As the Head of School at BASIS Pflugerville, Mr. Shaffer is honored to be a positive support and mentor for the teachers, students, and for our families. In this role, Mr. Shaffer’s goal is to continue to build a warm and inviting culture where students can grow creatively, emotionally, academically, and socially.
Meet the Head of Operations
Jayme Williams
Jayme Williams is excited to serve as the Head of Operations at BASIS Pflugerville after transitioning from his position as a Lead Math Teacher at BASIS Austin.

Before joining BASIS Texas, Mr. Williams spent 10 years in various educational roles including teaching math/science, athletic coaching, and in administration as the head of a technical college program and facilities.

Prior to his educational career, he worked in facility operations and development for 10 years where he managed large scale facilities and real estate projects. Mr. Williams is also a U.S. Navy veteran having served 4 years as a Seabee in the Naval Construction Force where he started his career in operations and earned a Presidential Service Badge and commendation.

After completing his enlistment, Mr. Williams earned his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of Tampa. He also holds a master’s degree in Systems Management from the University of Tennessee.
As the Head of Operations at BASIS Pflugerville, Mr. Williams is excited to take on the challenge and help build an amazing school by creating a safe and positive campus environment for everyone. To quote Mr. Williams: “It is my goal to establish quality safety, financial, and operational standards for our campus that produce positive impacts and positive experiences for our students, staff, and families.”
