Summer messages for incoming students!

Congratulations on your new adventure as the Class of 2026 at Brooklyn Technical High School!

In less than two months, your freshman year will begin, and we want you to be prepared for the upcoming school year.

For those in the Class of 2025 who are changing high schools, we hope that transferring here is everything you hoped for.

We are going to send a series of emails this summer to familiarize you with some important information every student should know. A day of orientation on either Aug. 31 or Sept. 1  will also help you get to know the school -- and meets some classmates. Students, you will get an email sometime next week to choose a morning or afternoon session.

Once you arrive on September 8th, we hope you aren't overwhelmed. The BTHS.edu website has a cool virtual tour to help you get acquainted with the building. Go here for that. It's a good idea to do a practice trip via the subway or bus, or which ever way you plan to get to school before the first day.

We hope that these emails will answer some of the questions that both you, the student, and your parents may have before entering our building. The more you know coming in, the better.

Each email will focus on a different topics relevant to you and your parents -- from communications and guidance to clubs and athletics.

We've already received questions, so here are some answers.

1) You will receive your new email addresses shortly before orientation. Please go to BTHS.edu to create your BTHS email address.  If you don't have access to your nycstudents.net email address, please email me, mhuhn@schools.nyc.gov.

2)  We don't offer a school-supplies list. On your first day, bring a notebook, a pen or pencil and a folder. Some teachers will request particular items after school starts.

3)  We plan to distribute schedules before the first day of school virtually, so students will know when to arrive. Your first class of the day can be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th period. Here is the bell schedule.

4)  All parents should fill this form:

https://www.bths.edu/apps/forms2/index.jsp?f=14829

5) You will receive your Metrocard on the first day.

6) For information about Fall Athletic Tryouts, please go here.

7) Fill out the Incoming Students Survey below. Follow the instructions closely for uploading a photo of yourself on a white background. If you need to go back into the survey, you can use your email address to edit it.

We hope you enjoy the rest of summer and look forward to seeing you on Sept. 8th!
