Shavat Vayinafash Returns! Friday, November 1st at 6:00 PM, Silver Spring Civic Center
Come join Adat Shalom clergy and musicians for a sweet, musical, soulful, joyful and peaceful entry into Shabbat. Bring your friends and neighbors. We’ll provide Kiddush wine, a challah and some small bites to share before dinner on your own.
Harvest Against Hunger - How did we do?
Adat Shalom wins good sport award, self-selected, in the Harvest Against Hunger campaign. We came in just behind Temple Beth Ami and wish them well until next time. The real winner is Manna food center, which now has a 31% increase in donations from our congregations and a 7% increase from Moco synagogues in general.

From the Board - Nominating Committee
Building on the vibrant spirit of our recent high holidays, we now enter the season of planning for the next year.

We are beginning the process of forming the Nominating Committee to create the Board and Program Council for 2020-21. The Nominating Committee will once again be chaired by Immediate Past Co-Presidents, Jon Grossman and Harriet Shugerman.

We encourage all who are interested in serving on the Nominating Committee (which is about a 4 month 1-2 hours per week commitment) or who wish to consider being nominated for a leadership position on an Adat Shalom committee or on the Adat Shalom Board to contact us at your earliest convenience at the email addresses listed below.

According to our By-Laws, the Nominating Committee must be announced by November 30 th and the only in-person meeting will be the evening of December 3 rd .

The American Technion Society Welcomes Dr. Alon Wolf - Tuesday, November 19th at 7:00 PM
Join us as we welcome Professor Alon Wolf, founder and director of the Biorobotics and Biomechanics Lab in the Technion Faculty of Mechanical Engineering to Adat Shalom! His research focuses on the fundamental theories in kinematics biomechanics, mechanism design with applications in medical/surgical robotics, rehabilitation robotics, and biorobotics. Prof. Wolf co-founded MedRobotics with colleagues from Carnegie Mellon University. Their Flex Robotic System (FRS), based on Prof. Wolf’s search and rescue snake robot, can reach body cavities beyond the surgeon’s direct line of sight, especially head and neck structures.
