Additional Program Openings
Additional Program Openings

While all programs are sold out, we have been working hard on creating additional openings and we may have some soon!

If you are still interested in registering your athlete for a program, please use the following link or the button below to fill out the Intent to Register form. This form is for Devo Mini, Devo, and Devo+.

Completing this familiar form will help us expedite reaching out to those who have not already signed up for other programs because we were sold out, but are still interested in registering for our programs this season.

We do expect to add more registrations. You will hear from us by next week, if we are able to register your athlete for a program. For more information, please read the Devo+ Tryouts section below.
Welcome Night
Welcome Night

Our annual Welcome Night for Devo Mini, Devo, and Devo+ is Monday, December 12th from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Pleasant Valley Weber County Library.

Welcome Night is a chance for parents and athletes to get information on what to expect in Devo this season. We will go over details for new families, as well as changes in the program, most of which are outlined in this message. A question and answer session will follow. If you have questions, please attend!

For those of you who have registered an athlete in our programs, PLEASE mark your availability in TeamSnap! This is very important to our organization and coaches. You will find three events in your program's TeamSnap group:

  • Welcome Night
  • Jacket Pickup
  • Devo Assessment and Training (Session 1)

Mark your availability for these events in TeamSnap. Once teams are formed, you will be able to mark your athlete's availability for additional sessions in your designated team.

If you have questions about using TeamSnap, there are resources listed below in the TeamSnap section of this message.
Program Communication

Subscribe for 2022-2023 Program Communication

You have been receiving program information because you were on the Intent to Participate list and/or because you were subscribed to program communication for the 2021-2022 season.

Each season some of our participants change, so we create a new distribution list each season. This way, those who are not currently registered for our programs do not continue to receive weekly updates throughout the season that do not pertain to them.

If you would like to continue to receive Program Communication for the 2022-2023 season, use the button below to Subscribe for Program Communication.

This is a NEW list for 2022-2023 Teams. Sign up must be completed for the 2022-2023 season even if you have received program communication in previous seasons. If you have previously subscribed to the new list, you are set.

Devo+ Evaluations
Devo+ Evaluations

We have been working hard to get your athlete in the program and recently been able to add more Devo+ coaches for Sunday.

This means we are opening additional spots for the Devo+ Sunday program. Currently registered Devo athletes and athletes who are not currently registered for any of our programs are welcome to attend the Devo+ evaluation.

Evaluations will be this Thursday, December 8 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. There is no cost. Please arrive by 1:45 pm at the SSEF Base Yurt. Location details are listed below in the Meeting Area section of this message.

If you would like to have your athlete evaluated at no cost, you must complete the Devo+ Evaluation form with the link here or the button below.

Athletes must attend the evaluation to be considered for the program!

Registration priority for athletes that qualify for the Sunday Devo+ program will be:

  1. Currently registered Saturday Devo athletes wanting to exchange their Saturday Devo spot for a Sunday Devo+ only spot.
  2. Non-registered Participants.
  3. Currently registered Devo athletes who want to train Saturday and Sunday.

We expect some currently registered Saturday Devo athletes will want to change to Sunday Devo+ only. In the event we can open more registrations for Devo Saturday, we will add additional participants from the Intent to Register form linked at the beginning of this message.
Assessment
Registered Athlete Assessments - Action Required

Athlete assessment for registered Devo Mini and Devo athletes will take place during our first session, Saturday, December 17. Registered Devo+ athletes will be assessed on December 18.

Team Assessment Day is mandatory for all athletes. Please make sure your athlete is there on assessment day! Performing a second assessment on another day takes time away from all the coaches and athletes who have already completed their assessment...just to do it all over again for one athlete. Be sure to mark your athlete's availability in their program group for assessment day.

Complete the REQUIRED Athlete Information Form (AIF). The AIF will be used for initial group sort and assessment.

Returning participants use the 2021-2022 Devo Athlete Ability Level List, sorted by last name. Find the end of the season coach rated Ability Level corresponding to your athlete and use that number for your athlete's ability level on the AIF.

New participants or athletes not listed on the form linked above, use the Skier Ability Descriptions and take your best guess on your athlete's ability level, then enter that on the form. This provides a starting point for coaches on assessment day. The closer your parental assessment is to your athlete's skier ability level, the fewer group moves they will require. Ask a coach at our first session if you need assistance filling out the Skier Ability Level on the AIF.

Print the AIF form and place inside your athlete's left breast jacket pocket. Use a plastic bag to protect the form from sweat and the elements. The form has vital information and is important for athletes to keep on them at all times.

Release Authorization on the AIF is the list of adults you are authorizing your coach to release your athletes to during or at the conclusion of each session. Coaches will not release athletes to anyone who is not listed on the AIF.
Athlete Jackets
Athlete Jackets

We love our Karbon Jackets and we know you do too!

Jackets will be available for pickup at the Pleasant Valley Weber County Library on December 12 as listed above.

If you would like to pick up your jacket BEFORE the Parent Meeting, you can make arrangements with Christine Stephens (801) 721-8247 to pick up a jacket in Ogden.

For your reference, here is the link to our Karbon Jacket sizing chart.

Some parents have commented that the jackets tend to run a little large and others have said the sizing is just right. Ultimately, the size is influenced by how many layers your athlete is going to need. Plan for the appropriate size by bringing your athlete's layers to try on with the jacket. This should help narrow down right size.
Once you take the jacket home with you, it is yours to keep. We do not exchange jackets after they are picked up. Please make sure to get the size you need.
Athlete Lunches
Athlete Lunches - Action Required

This season we will be requiring all parents to use the Resort Charge feature on their athlete's season pass.

This feature allows parents to add a method of payment to their athlete's Snowbasin Season Pass and provides the athlete the ability to pay for their lunch.

Prior to December 17th, you must enable Resort Charge on your athlete's season pass by contacting Snowbasin to add your method of payment.

You can call the season pass desk at (801) 620-1123 or visit the Ticket Yurt in front of the Learning Center, in person. Athletes will now have access to the full lunch menu.

The athletes will eat as a team at one of the resort lodges. Their season pass tied to your method of payment will be used to pay for their lunch each session. Lunch is usually taken from 10:30 am -11:30 am.

We encourage athletes to pack an afternoon snack in their pocket.

Consider setting boundaries and limits with your athletes. You can also ask your coach to remind them to make smart choices.
Meeting Area
Meeting Area - SSEF Base Yurt

We are excited to have a new home this year. Our SSEF Base Yurt is located at the base of Snowbasin resort, behind the Mountain Operations and Ski Patrol Buildings. It is tucked in a small cluster of trees as indicated by the RED STAR on the map.

Athletes can meet coaches at the Yurt in the mornings and parents can pickup athletes at the Yurt in the afternoon. You can find those details on the schedule for your program in TeamSnap.

To get to our Yurt, from the Grizzly Center you can walk between the John Paul Lift on your left and the Mountain Operations building on your right, past the snow cats to see our Yurt as shown by the smaller double red arrow on the map.

From the Maples parking lot, you can hike across the snow to our Yurt as shown by the larger double red arrow on the map.

Snowbasin has asked us not to walk between the Mountain Operations and Ski Patrol Buildings. Follow the red arrows and help us keep Snowbasin happy.

We are including this hike as part of our physical warm up for the day. It's fantastic for our athletes and coaches to have their own private getaway, while we stay out of the general public's way.

The intent is to have a groomed path from the Maples Expansion Parking Area, Lot "M", to the Yurt and from the Grizzly Center sidewalk to the Yurt. If it snows a lot during the day, it could be more challenging for our Devo Mini athletes.

We have been using a regular snow sled to help move things around from parking lots to the Yurt. Do what makes sense for you.

As our coaches get accustomed to this new space, we will learn what works best for our Devo Mini athletes. For Devo and Devo+, the expectation and pre-requisite is that athletes be able to manage their own equipment both on and off the mountain.

We encourage everyone to come find our Yurt BEFORE Dec 17th, so you know where to meet our coaches.
