Welcome back to the Carr Center! We hope you had a great summer, and we are looking forward to seeing you all in the upcoming semester.

For students, we have a range of opportunities , including internship and research funding, to deepen your understanding and practice of human rights. Also note our Research Assistant positions for our Renewing Rights and Responsibilities in the United States Initiative.

We look forward to seeing many of you at our Open House on September 6 . It's going to be a great semester - come join us and learn about all the ways in which the Carr Center is working to bolster human rights worldwide.

Learn about the Carr Center's research, initiatives, and programs. We will introduce our various student resources such as fellowships, courses, study groups, research opportunities, and travel grants.

Bring a friend to meet our faculty, fellows, and staff who will answer any questions you may have about the Carr Center. We will have food, drink, and giveaways.

Series: Towards Life 3.0 - Ethics and Technology in the 21st Century

Towards Life 3.0: Ethics and Technology in the 21 st  Century  is a talk series organized and facilitated by Mathias Risse , Director of the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy and Lucius N. Littauer Professor of Philosophy and Public Administration.

Drawing inspiration from the title of Max Tegmark’s book,  Life 3.0: Being Human in the Age of Artificial Intelligence , the series draws upon a range of scholars, technology leaders, and public interest technologists to address the ethical aspects of the long-term impact of artificial intelligence on society and human life.

Primavera de Filippi , Faculty Associate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society and Researcher at the National Center of Scientific Research in Paris, will give a talk titled, "Blockchain Governance: Can We Turn Trust into Confidence?"

Series: Human Rights in Hard Places

The Carr Center’s Human Rights in Hard Places talk series offers insights and analysis from the frontlines by human rights practitioners, policy makers, and innovators.

Moderated by Sushma Raman , the series highlights current day human rights and humanitarian concerns such as human rights in North Korea, migration on the US-Mexico border, and the dismantling of democracy.
