Welcome to the Kansas Science of Reading Professional Learning Journey

We are excited to embark on a new journey to more deeply understand the science of how all children learn to read through the Lexia® LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) professional learning course of study. LETRS training provides the background, depth of knowledge, and tools to more effectively teach language and literacy skills to every student.

So, let’s get you started with LETRS!

How to begin:

1. Kick-Off Session - You may have attended one of the live kick-off sessions recently to help you become familiar with your upcoming learning journey. If you missed the sessions you may watch the Recorded Kick-Off
2. Log into Course - If you didn't receive an email with login credentials, go to the LETRS Learning Platform page. Above the Username is a link for 'Complete Account Setup'. Please use that to setup your account and get your login credentials. 
3. Start Your Learning Journey - To start, log in to the LETRS Learning Platform and complete the Introduction. Once you complete the introduction, take the short pretest before you begin the course. The pretest is nothing to worry about. Pretests are untimed and merely document what you may already know about Volume 1 content as you start your LETRS journey. When you finish the course, you’ll be able to see how much progress you’ve made.
4. Continue on with your online learning and try to be completed with Unit 1 by your live virtual Unit 1 training date.

To get the most out of LETRS over the next 2 years:

• Keep up with the pacing guide.
• Complete all Bridge-to-Practice activities with 3 of your students as you work through the course.
• Attend all of the live Unit training sessions.
• Discuss what you are learning with colleagues and building administrators including your experiences with the Bridge-to-Practice activities.
