WELCOME TO MERCY!

Dear {First Name},

How exciting to know that you will be joining our community in August! On behalf of the teachers and staff of Mercy Montessori Center, we welcome you with Mercy spirit and hospitality! You have joined a tremendously dedicated group of parents and educators who share the common goal of helping each child become a contributing member of society. This is no small task!

Over the next few weeks, we will be contacting you directly to welcome you, introduce ourselves, and discuss your child for a smooth transition. Patty will contact parents of preprimary (ages 3,4,5) through 3rd level students. Krista will contact parents of students in 4th - 8th level.

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, here are a few handy notes and reminders. All of this information will be reviewed in detail at the upcoming Preprimary and Kindergarten orientation session (August 10th at 6:30pm) so you feel ready for the start of school. There is no orientation session for parents with children entering grades 1-8, Amanda Grimm will be contacting you directly to follow up with any questions you may have. You may want to save this email for future reference.

In the meantime, enjoy your summer months with your child and we look forward to seeing you in August!

With Mercy Spirit -

Helpful Information for New Families

Classroom packets, the 2022/2023 School Handbook, and other school year logistics information will be shared with families in August through the Weekly Notes.

Child Care Registration

Please complete this form by July 30 to register.

After-school child care is available for the 2022/2023 school year. This service is limited to working families who need the service on a consistent basis. A working family consists of two parents who are both working, or a single parent is working during the hours of our program. We are not equipped to keep children on an irregular basis. We must provide consistent and appropriate space for each child in attendance.

Child Care for preschool children (ages 3 & 4) begins at 11:45 and ends at 5:45 pm. We have two locations for Child Care for this age. Once we know how many children and which classrooms each student is assigned to for the school day, we will then assign the room and teacher for Child Care hours. Child Care for this age group begins on Monday, August 29th.

For children in our Extended Day program (5 year olds) care begins at 3:15 and ends at 5:45. Children go to the Child Care Room on the 2nd floor at 3:15. Child care for this age group begins on Wednesday, August 24th.

For children in grade levels 1-8, care begins at 3:15 and ends at 5:45.

Children in Levels 1-3 go to the Makers' space for their care.

Children in Levels 4-8 go to the Spanish room in the junior high.

Child Care for this age group begins on August 25th.

The cost of Child Care is $4.75 per hour, per child.

Billing occurs at the end of each month from September – May. (August hours are included with the September billing). You MUST check your FACTS/RenWeb account monthly for Child Care Bills.

Registration for your child is due no later than July 30, as securing proper staffing is our greatest issue at this time of the year.

Immunizations:

  • State Law mandates that a record of updated immunizations and a current annual physical exam be on file for the enrollment of all new students. In order for your child to start the 2022/2023 school year, documentation of these immunizations must be received by August 1, 2022.

  • The Certificate of Medical Examination form to be completed by your physician is attached. This must be completed by ALL NEW Families and PK3, PK4, K and 7th Level Families.

Medication Forms: (if needed)

  • Authorization for the Administration of Medication Form: An authorization to administer all medications (both over-the-counter and prescription) needs to be completed by a physician and parent. Medication is to be brought to school in the original container with the pharmacy label in place. Medications will be distributed by the school nurse, and will be stored in the nurse’s office. Students are not permitted to carry any medications during school.

  • If your child has been diagnosed with a food allergy that requires medication, please have your physician complete the Student Health Care Plan.
Snack & Birthday Treat Policy

Mercy is committed to educating the whole child and supporting healthy snacking and eating habits. To this end, we have implemented a school-wide policy for sharing basket snacks and birthday treats.
