Welcome to Monday Mail!
From the Principal
Greetings!

As a reminder, Curriculum Nights are scheduled for this week. 7th & 8th Grade Curriculum Night is Tuesday and 6th Grade Curriculum Night is Thursday. Both events begin promptly at 6pm with a PTSA meeting. Please join us to meet your child's teachers and to learn more about the content they will be learning this school year.

Our 6th grade students will be visiting the JA Discovery Center beginning next week to participate in the BizTown experience. This simulation experience is a wonderful opportunity for our students and is made possible because of the volunteers involved. Please consider volunteering by visiting this link. You can volunteer individually or as a part of your company. If you can't volunteer, please ask your child about the experience. It is wonderful.

Finally, a big CONGRATULATIONS goes out to our three finalists for the 2020 Trickum Teacher of the Year. This year's finalists are Lindsay Hardin, Eric Nawyn, and Andy Paulson. This year's Teacher of the Year will be announced on September 5th.
REMINDERS
*School hours are 9:20 AM - 4:05 PM

*Students may NOT enter the building until 8:50 AM unless they have a pass from a teacher.
*NO checkouts are permitted after 3:30 PM.

*Please review the Handbook for Dress Code and other rules and regulations.

IMPORTANT Car Rider Lane Reminder
For those who utilize the car rider lane, please BE PATIENT and understand that there is limited space for car riders. Therefore, in excessive times, the car rider lane can back up onto Killian Hill Road creating additional traffic congestion and delays. Please do NOT cut in line or try to drop your student off in the parking lot. Students MUST be dropped off at the curb and NOT inside the parking lot. This is for your child's safety and the safety of all students.
School Bus Announcemen t
Buses will be running late the first few weeks of school as the buses will roll in late from the elementary school routes and our students will be getting oriented to our system. No need to panic or call the school. Please be patient! All of the kids will get home and after the first few weeks, the buses should adjust to their regular scheduled times. For specific transportation route information, be sure to utilize the Transportation tab on the Parent Portal.
In addition to the Monday Mail newsletter as a great source of information, parents please also bookmark the TMS website and check it weekly for additional information. Students, please listen to the morning and afternoon announcements for important dates regarding club start ups and meetings.
H ave you signed up for the Parent Portal?
GCPS’ Parent Portal serves as a valuable tool and resource for information about your child and his or her academic career. In order to update your parent contact information and other critical school information, you will need a parent portal account. If you have not requested a parent portal account, please do so using the attached form. Bring the completed form to school with your ID to verify your identity and complete the process.
Parents: Please take the time to set up a MyPaymentsPlus account for your student. It is a very important tool to have during the school year. The features include Meals & AutoPay, Student Account Management, Products & Events and Digital Forms. Not only will you be able to add money to the account for your child's lunch, but you can also pay for special activities during the year and also take care of signing documents and forms directly online.

If you have not done so, please complete all orientation agreements in MyPaymentsPlus. These agreements are MANDATORY and must be completed immediately. Please click on the link below to sign up!

Keep an eye on your account!

Don't forget to keep an eye on your child's breakfast/lunch account over at MyPaymentsPlus. You can make life easier by setting up alerts when the balance runs low. Just look for the "Low Balance Notification" box, towards the top of the screen.

MPP also has a neat feature where you can use the "Auto Pay" button to automatically add a dollar amount of your choosing when your balance gets low.
Medication
If you have a child that needs medication kept in the clinic during the school year, you will need to drop off the medication in person to the clinic. Students are NOT allowed to bring the medication to school so please do not send with your child! There will be medical forms that you as the parent will need to fill out and sign.
