Welcome to Monday Mail!
From the Principal
Greetings! What a great week at Trickum last week! Both our boys and girls basketball teams won their games last Thursday and are back on the court this Thursday vs Crews MS at Parkview. Also, our 8th grade students visited Parkview HS as the process of 8th grade matriculation has officially begun. Be sure to talk with your child about their trip and be on the lookout for additional 9th grade registration information in the coming weeks.

Each year the Georgia DOE offers surveys for completion by parents, students and staff of every school in the state. The results of these surveys are used to compile the School Climate Rating component of the schools annual CCRPI score. Trickum has proudly attained a 5-star climate rating each of the last 4 years. For more information regarding the details of the School Climate Rating, and Trickum's performance specifically, check out the new School Climate Dashboard. As we look to maintain this wonderful rating, we ask all parents to take a moment and complete this year's survey via the link in the survey story below.
In case you didn't know,
Your feedback is important to us!
Please take a moment to let us know how we're doing by completing this GA DOE school climate survey. We use the feedback you provide on these periodic surveys to plan for the next school year.
The deadline for completion is March 1.

All books checked out from the Media Center before the holiday are now past due. Notices will be given to students this week as well as emailed home.
Please encourage your student to locate any books that may be missing in action.
 Happy Reading!
The Media Center needs YOU!
If you are available to volunteer during school hours, the Trickum Media Center would love to have your help! Trickum students do a LOT of reading. There are always books waiting to get on the shelves for the next reader. In other words, we need volunteers to shelve books. Media Center volunteers can choose the days and times they’d like to help out (as long as it’s during school hours). You can even bring your earbuds and listen to your favorite music (or audible book!) while you help out, and you’ll probably burn a few calories too! If you’re interested, or would like more information, please contact Kay Nagel at  [email protected]  or stop by the Media Center and talk with Mary Ellen Leviton.
Exciting programming from the Mountain Park branch of the public library....
Scoliosis Screening
Students will be screened for scoliosis on Wednesday, January 23rd. Letters went home last week explaining the process and what the students should wear on that day to be properly screened. All students will be screened unless you sign and return the form to opt out. Forms must be received by Friday to opt out.
Summer Health and PE for rising 9th graders
Does your student need to free up his or her schedule to allow for band, theater, chorus, strings, or athletics?? If you answered yes, then you should consider allowing your student to take Health and Introduction to Lifetime Fitness (PE) during the summer of 2019 through the Parkview Community School located at Parkview High School. Click here for all the details or visit the TMS website or call Parkview Community School at 770-806-3796.
Keep an eye on your account!

Don't forget to keep an eye on your child's breakfast/lunch account over at MyPaymentsPlus. You can make life easier by setting up alerts when the balance runs low. Just look for the "Low Balance Notification" box, towards the top of the screen.

MPP also has a neat feature where you can use the "Auto Pay" button to automatically add a dollar amount of your choosing when your balance gets low.

SAVE your BOXTOPS for EDUCATION
Fundraising couldn't be easier
Did you know we get $.10 for each boxtop we collect? We have new box top collection boxes located in each grade level's admin office. There is also a box in the media center. Save your Boxtops, bring them to school, drop them in one of the convenient boxes located in the school.   A super easy way for Trickum to earn money without spending an extra dime!
Interested in volunteering at Trickum? We have many opportunities to get involved: Activity Days, Color Run, PBIS Socials, Monthly Ticket Exchanges, Media Center, Box Tops, and more! Click here to see the options and to let us know where you would like to volunteer.
