Welcome to Monday Mail!
From the Principal
Greetings!

Today marks the official start to the articulation process for our 8th grade students as we begin our Field Trip tours and information sessions at Parkview High School. Be certain to discuss the experience with your child this week. The transition to high school is an exciting but sometimes anxious event. More information will be coming home later this month as students begin making course selections for next school year. Parkview will host their annual rising 9th grade night on Thursday, February 6th beginning at 6pm.

Our basketball teams had a great week last week ending with two exciting overtime games on Saturday versus Snellville MS with the boys winning on a buzzer beater. Both teams are back in action Thursday at Parkview HS versus Shiloh MS. Please continue to come out and support our basketball teams and cheerleading squad this season.
GCPS will be hosting the 20th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration next Monday, January 20th, at Moore Middle School. All students and their families are invited to attend the celebration. The theme will be "The time is always right to do what is right". The parade will begin at 11:00 AM in front of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center located at 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville, and all details can be found by clicking on the link below.

NO outside food is permitted in the cafeteria or in the lobby for students per our school cafeteria rules. Parents are welcome to come and eat inside the cafeteria with their student but need to plan to purchase a cafeteria lunch or bring a lunch from home and sit with their student at the adult table inside the cafeteria. Our lobby here at Trickum does not accommodate room for students or parents to eat lunch outside the cafeteria, and we need this area available for all guests. Thank you for your understanding!

H ave you signed up for the Parent Portal?
GCPS’ Parent Portal serves as a valuable tool and resource for information about your child and his or her academic career. In order to update your parent contact information and other critical school information, you will need a parent portal account. If you have not requested a parent portal account, please do so using the attached form. Bring the completed form to school with your ID to verify your identity and complete the process.

Parents: Please take the time to set up a MyPaymentsPlus account for your student. It is a very important tool to have during the school year. The features include Meals & AutoPay, Student Account Management, Products & Events and Digital Forms. Not only will you be able to add money to the account for your child's lunch, but you can also pay for special activities during the year and also take care of signing documents and forms directly online.

Please click on the link below to sign up!

Keep an eye on your account!

Don't forget to keep an eye on your child's breakfast/lunch account over at MyPaymentsPlus. You can make life easier by setting up alerts when the balance runs low. Just look for the "Low Balance Notification" box, towards the top of the screen.

MPP also has a neat feature where you can use the "Auto Pay" button to automatically add a dollar amount of your choosing when your balance gets low.
Interested in volunteering at Trickum? We have many opportunities to get involved: Activity Days, Color Run, PBIS Socials, Monthly Ticket Exchanges, Media Center, Box Tops, and more! Click here to see the options and to let us know where you would like to volunteer.

Thank you for supporting our school, our students and our community!
Calling all BOXTOPS for EDUCATION Keep them coming.
Fundraising couldn't be easier
Did you know we get $.10 for each boxtop we collect? We have box top collection boxes located in each grade level's admin office. There is also a box in the media center. Save your Boxtops, bring them to school, drop them in one of the convenient boxes located in the school.   A super easy way for Trickum to earn money without spending an extra dime!
The community continues their support of our schools, students, and staff through generous grants. Read about it in the Communique.
