Welcome to Monday Mail!
From the Principal
Greetings Trickum families,

Happy Monday to you all! Just two more weeks of instruction remain before final exams. Finals begin on Monday, May 11th. See the information below for the detailed schedule. Each test will have a 24-hour window where the assessment is open for students to access at their convenience. Once accessed, students will have 90 minutes to complete the assessment. Each day after the exam will be spent on remediation, reassessment and redoing work to ensure that all students master the content. There will also be opportunities for make-up exams should it be needed.

As we begin to close out learning this semester, GCPS continues to update families during these unique times via weekly Digital Learning Updates. One subject which has been shared multiple times is Grading. As mentioned, GCPS is taking steps to make sure students are as successful as possible. One of the these steps is making slight adjustments in grading weights for each category in order to benefit students. Specifics for each course will be shared directly by the teacher.

GCPS School Nutrition will continue to provide meal service for pick up and delivery on select bus routes through Friday, May 15th. Please make a note that this service will end but the last day of school remains Wednesday, May 20th.

For all rising 6th grade parents, the Connections preference process has been extended through Thursday, April 30th. Please take a couple of minutes to share your preferences as they will help guide us in creating our master schedule for the 2020-21 school year.

Our building remains closed to visitors at this time, however, we are present to address your needs via telephone at 770-921-2705. I know many questions remain regarding the end of school processes, however, we are going to hold off any communication regarding those items as long as the Governor's stay-at-home order is in place through April 30th.
Way to Go Trickum Tigerbots!!
On April 18-19, the Tigerbots, Trickum's FIRST LEGO League robotics team, competed in the Virtual Open Invitational Tournament. The tournament was established for teams who were going to compete at the FIRST World Championship before it was cancelled due to the Coronavirus concerns.

48 teams from around the globe sent in videos of their research and interviews. They also attended live video feeds of their robot missions performances.

Over all, the Trickum Tigerbots placed 21st out of 48. A very good result for their first time competing on the international stage.

Well done Tigerbots!!
The High Museum of Art continues the student art exhibit online. Some Trickum students submitted their art, and it has been posted in the exhibition album! What talent and expressiveness! Great job to these students! You can visit the entire art exhibit album online here .
