#GCPSStrong: Help us celebrate employees who have made a difference for students this year!
The 2020–21 school year has been a successful, yet challenging, year for our school community. However, our students, their families, and our faculty and staff have all worked together to show that together we are GCPSStrong.

Now, more than ever, your thanks, encouragement, and celebration of GCPS staff members is a meaningful way to show how much our community values public education and appreciates those who have helped our students through this challenging time.

Here are just a few ways to show your support:

*Send an eCard to a GCPS staff member! Click HERE, select one of five designs and complete the eCard submission form.

*Download printable Thank You Sheets! Families can print sheets with the same colorful designs to share a handwritten note with their child's teachers, driver, school nutrition team, and other staff members! Find the printable sheets by clicking HERE.

*Say "Thank You" on your social media accounts! Join us in thanking these folks and all GCPS employees with a Thank You post on your social media accounts, using the #GCPSStrong hashtag.

*Add a #GCPSStrong profile frame! Show your support for GCPS and our students, staff, and schools with a #GCPSStrong profile frame on your Facebook account! For detailed instructions for adding a social media frame to your Facebook profile picture (and how-to for sharing your new profile picture on other platforms), go to our GCPSStrong web page by clicking HERE.

Do you have a school-issued device or hotspot?

Please read the important information below!
We have checked out more than 600 devices to our students through our e-Circulation system. With the end of the 2020-2021 school year approaching, we need to begin collecting all those devices soon!

If your child has a device checked out, please speak to them about it. Make certain that they have the device AND the power cords, etc. that were checked out to them. Additionally, inspect the device carefully to see if there are any issues - cracked screen, missing keys, more than "normal wear and tear", etc. Please recall, at the beginning of the year, you received information regarding expectations for care and use of the equipment. Additionally, fines can and will be accessed to the student if the device checked out is returned damaged or not returned at all.

If your child is an in-person learner and they no longer need the device, they may bring it to school and have it removed from their account. We will assess the device to ensure that it is not damaged. If there is damage noted, we will notify you of further instructions regarding fine, payment, etc.

A follow-up email will be sent to each applicable household containing specific information about the devices that need to be returned. Be on the lookout for this email soon!

If you have questions, please contact Kelly Gresham @ [email protected]

Study! Study! Study!
By: Sarah Wang, 7th Grade, Student Writer

As the school year is ending, I realize that finals are coming up as well. Unlike the milestones, every student, regardless of whether they are digital or in-person, will have to take finals. There will be six total finals, one for each class! My teachers (and I’m sure other teachers as well) have already started preparing us and reviewing materials for the final. It may be a stressful time for students, but don’t worry at all. You’ve already made it so far and learned everything that you were supposed to. So just stick with reviewing and studying and you will do amazing! Even though I am not very excited about them, I just remind myself, it just means that summer is coming. To be honest, I don’t want to end this super interesting year. It was an amazing experience and I actually was able to become sort of tech-savvy. But let’s just all study hard and finish this year off with amazing results!

After May 12th, books will be marked as lost and a replacement cost will be placed on the student's account.
In-Person Students: Please return your library books by giving them to your LA teachers or by placing them on the carts outside of your grade level offices.

Digital Students: There will be two ways for you to drop-off your library books.
*Beginning May 12th, there will be a cart placed outside each day from 11:45 AM - 12:45 PM in the lunch pick-up location at the back of the school.
*There will be a cart placed inside the school at the front desk area. If coming inside the school to drop-off your book(s), please come between the hours of 9:00-2:00.

** Click HERE to fill out the Free Or Reduced Meal Program annual application if you have not already done so. **
Important Message Regarding Digital Learning Attendance
Trickum has updated its attendance procedures for digital learners.

Teachers are now taking attendance for digital learners who are online during live instruction. Digital learners who are not present during live instruction will be marked with the code “NPD“ which stands for “Not Present Digitally.” Students who are present during live instruction will continue to be marked present digitally with the “DL“ in their teacher’s gradebook.

The new process is more aligned to our normal attendance procedures and the expectations of in-person students. More importantly, it will help families to better support their students as they can clearly see that their student was online during class and interacting with their teacher and classmates, not just logging on to the computer at some point during the day. This information will help families as they partner with the school to maximize their child(ren)’s school experience.

If you have any questions about this new process for capturing attendance, please contact your child(ren)'s grade level office.
PARENTS: Please make sure to frequently check the GCPS website for all updates regarding digital and in-person learning. You can also visit the Trickum website for information and updates at www.trickum.org.

**Also, please stay up-to-date with your child's progress through the Parent Portal. Please reach out to individual teachers if you have questions regarding your child's performance.**

Student hours are:
9:00 AM - 4:05 PM

ParentVUE app available for GCPS families
Available for both Android and iOS, all you will need to do is download the ParentVUE app and log in with your parent portal credentials.

***If you do not have a parent portal account, please email Drew Schoen to get one set up!***

Updated TMS Parent's Guide to Digital and In-Person Learning
The Parent's Guide to Digital and In-Person Learning has been UPDATED on our Trickum website under Tiger News. Please make sure to keep this document handy as it contains all of the important information you will need as we navigate through this school year.

Please notice the change in the schedule for Fridays for ALL grade levels.

Remember, we are all in this together!

All students returning for in-person learning are strongly advised to bring a device with them to school each day as teachers will continue to utilize a digital learning platform to serve all of their students, and in-person students using their own devices will minimize sharing and reduce any potential spread of germs.

Orientation Agreement Forms and school contributions must be completed via MyPaymentsPlus.com. All returning students (this includes students who attended Trickum this past year as well as upcoming students from one of our four feeder elementary schools) may simply go to MyPaymentsPlus.com and login to complete the process. Those without an account will need to create one by going to MyPaymentsPlus.com; click on “Register” for a FREE account.

**It is important to sign up for MyPaymentsPlus to ensure all orientation forms are completed each school year, and you do not want to miss out on any school contributions that can be paid for on the site! ** If you have not already, PLEASE make sure you complete all of the forms in MyPaymentsPlus regardless of your child's current learning environment.**
Have you signed up for Parent Portal?

Parent Portal is always important but especially as we begin this school year in a digital format. If you have not already signed up for Parent Portal, please contact Drew Schoen at [email protected] to complete the sign-up process. The Parent Portal allows parents to monitor student progress throughout the year. No more waiting for report cards to get an update on grades; you may simply check the Parent Portal at your convenience. Other features allow you to view attendance, lunch account balances, checked out and overdue books, and emergency contact information.
