From the Principal
Greetings and Happy New Year! I hope each of you had a wonderful holiday season. As we begin the new semester, we immediately begin the planning process for next school year. The activities start with our 8th grade students who will be visiting Parkview High School all week. They will enjoy a visit to include informational presentations and a tour. Be sure to discuss the experience with them this week. Other planning events, including dates, will be published later this month.

Our Basketball season gets back in action this Thursday with a home games versus Berkmar Middle School at Parkview. Girls game begins at 5 with the boys game to follow. Please come out and support our teams.
ALL lost items that have been found will be in the cafeteria for 1 week beginning Monday, January 7th. PLEASE have your student check for any of his/her missing items. At the end of the week, all remaining items will be donated.
Auditions for
Trickum’s Got Talent
will be held on January 28 th through the 30 th from 4:30-6:30 in the chorus room.
Audition Sign-Up sheets will go up the week of Janurary 7 th on the Trickum’s Got Talent bulletin board across from the cafeteria. Information packets are available on the Trickum’s Got Talent bulletin board as well. 
Rain, rain go away because Kona Ice will be at Trickum on Tuesday, January 8th during the lunch periods. For $3-$5, you can enjoy a tasty refreshment with your lunch.
Bruster's Spirit Night is Thursday, January 1oth from 5:00-8:00 pm. A portion of the proceeds for the evening will be donated to Trickum. It's never to0 cold for a Bruster's treat.
***ATTENTION 8th GRADERS***
College and Career Club will be meeting on THURSDAY, JANUARY 17, 2019 from 4:30 - 5:30 in the 8th grade computer lab. Come join your peers for career skill building. All 8th graders are welcome. Match your interests to potential careers. Find your best fit for education beyond high school. Make arrangements to be picked up in the front of TMS at 5:30.
Girls on the Run - Heart & Sole
  is an after-school program for girls that teaches life skills through exciting lessons and running games. The program culminates with girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to build confidence and give girls a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. Lottery registration for Girls on the Run - Heart & Sole will be from  January 7 to 16 at 11:59 pm. Click on the following link to register.
For teams that do not fill during the lottery period, registration will re-open on January 17 and continue through February 13. Girls on the Run - Heart & Sole  meets twice a week, Tuesday and Wednesday, from 4:15 - 5:45 PM beginning the week of  February 4 and ending the week of April 29  at Trickum Middle School. The program is for 6-8th-grade girls. Ms. Hamilton, Ms. Estrada-Johnson, Ms. Cliatt and Ms. Kinser will serve as the 4 coaches for the spring season.
Girls on the Run uses an income-based sliding scale so that every girl who wants to participate can. The program registration fee is available on a sliding scale from $10 to $185. For more information and to register, Click Here
All books checked out from the Media Center before the holiday are now past due. All students will be visiting the Media Center over the next week with their Language Arts class to checkout new books to start the semester. They will need to return their past due books at that time or before. Please encourage them to locate any books that may be missing in action.

Don't forget to keep an eye on your child's breakfast/lunch account over at MyPaymentsPlus. You can make life easier by setting up alerts when the balance runs low. Just look for the "Low Balance Notification" box, towards the top of the screen.

MPP also has a neat feature where you can use the "Auto Pay" button to automatically add a dollar amount of your choosing when your balance gets low.

The Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology (GSMST)

The lottery application process for the 2019-2020 Freshman Class opened on November 1st. The last meeting that will provide information to students/parents interested in attending GSMST, including the math requirement will be Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 7:00 PM.

Did you know we get $.10 for each boxtop we collect? We have new box top collection boxes located in each grade level's admin office. There is also a box in the media center. Save your Boxtops, bring them to school, drop them in one of the convenient boxes located in the school.   A super easy way for Trickum to earn money without spending an extra dime!
