A big CONGRATULATIONS to Andy Paulson on being selected as the 2019-20 Trickum Middle School Teacher of the Year! This is a great honor so please take a moment and congratulate him. He will now move on and compete for GCPS Teacher of the Year. Good luck Mr. Paulson!!
As a reminder, CogAT testing is this week for our 8th grade students. Please have your child to school on time as there is no make up testing available.
Our 6th grade students will continue visiting the JA Discovery Center this week to participate in the BizTown experience. This simulation experience is a wonderful opportunity for our students and is made possible because of the volunteers involved. Please consider volunteering by visiting this
link. You can volunteer individually or as a part of your company. If you can't volunteer, please ask your child about the experience. It is wonderful. Our 8th grade students will participate later this month in the Finance Park experience beginning on September 23rd.
Looking ahead, next Monday at 8:30am in the PLC is the first Ryan's Roundtable event sponsored by our PTSA. This is a great opportunity to connect with your principal in an informal setting to hear about all the great things occurring at Trickum.

Attention 8th Grade Parents
Eighth graders will be participating in the 2019 administration of the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) which measures students' verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal reasoning abilities. The results of this test will help assess how well your child is performing and assist with plans to meet your child's academic needs.
The administration will be delivered as follows:

Monday, September 9, 2019 : Verbal Battery - Sections 1, 2, & 3
*
Tuesday, September 10, 2019 - Quantitative Battery - Sections 4, 5, & 6
*
Wednesday, September 11, 2019 - Sections 7, 8, & 9
Thank you for making sure your child is present and on time each of these days. Our staff wants to provide your child with the best opportunity to be successful. Since the formal testing environment cannot be duplicated in a make-up session, it is to your child's advantage to be at school during these scheduled test days. Once testing has begun each day, no child will be allowed to enter the classroom tardy. Testing will begin at 9:30 AM and end at 10:45 AM each day.

Trickum's Math Counts team is consistently one of the strongest in Gwinnett County as well as the State of Georgia.
We will have our first Math Counts meeting on Monday, September 9th at 8:15 AM and also during Tiger Time in Mr. Paulson's classroom on the 6th Grade hall - Room 1.051.

Free or Reduced Lunch Program
|
If your student received free or reduced priced lunches last year, you will need to reapply for the new school year.
The grace period for free and reduced lunches will end on
September 16th
. After this date, all students will have to pay for lunches in full.

Interested in Art? Art Club is starting later this month.
We meet on Wednesday mornings at 8 AM in Ms. Cliatt's room (1.276) and will have different days depending on grade level. Please submit the form by September 18th.
Due to the number of students interested, we select students by lottery. You will be notified by email if you have been selected along with a start date. We have a fee of $15 for the year to cover a global art exchange we will be participating in. Once selected, this will appear on your mypaymentsplus account.

PBIS is a program where students are rewarded for good behavior and acts of kindness. Students exhibiting good behavior will receive Tiger Tickets that can be exchanged monthly for goodies and also certain parties that are held during the school year.
Items will vary monthly and all items will cost 5 Tiger Tickets. One exchange per student.
The first Monthly Tiger Ticket Exchange will be Friday, September 20th.
Start earning those Tiger Tickets now so you have them for the first exchange!!

The 46th Annual Lilburn Daze is just around the corner to be held on
Saturday, October 12th, at Lilburn City Park from 9 AM until 5 PM.
NEW THIS YEAR will be the costumed DOGGY DAZZLE PAW-RADE which will begin promptly at
10 AM
on the interactive stage directly across the park from the main stage.
Proceeds from Lilburn Daze go back into our community through projects generated from our programs some of which include scholarships for Lilburn students, our free dictionary project for all third graders and other programs that affect our local schools.

In order to update your parent contact information and other critical school information, you will need a parent portal account. If you have not requested a parent portal account, please do so using the attached form. Bring the completed form to school with your ID to verify your identity and complete the process.

Parents: Please take the time to set up a MyPaymentsPlus account for your student. It is a very important tool to have during the school year. The features include Meals & AutoPay, Student Account Management, Products & Events and Digital Forms. Not only will you be able to add money to the account for your child's lunch, but you can also pay for special activities during the year and also take care of signing documents and forms directly online.
If you have not done so, please complete all orientation agreements in MyPaymentsPlus. These agreements are MANDATORY and must be completed immediately. Please click on the link below to sign up!

Keep an eye on your account!

Don't forget to keep an eye on your child's breakfast/lunch account over at
MyPaymentsPlus. You can make life easier by setting up alerts when the balance runs low. Just look for the "Low Balance Notification" box, towards the top of the screen.
MPP also has a neat feature where you can use the "Auto Pay" button to automatically add a dollar amount of your choosing when your balance gets low.
