MASK FIT TESTING
If you have not already done so, you will be required to attend a Mask Fit testing appointment. At this appointment, a trained staff will determine which mask best fits your face and properly protects you from unsafe particles in the environment. When the best mask is identified, the model number is put on the back of your badge so you always know which mask is best for you.
Occupational Health often sends emails about Mask Fit testing dates and locations.
There are certain restrictions you must be aware of prior to the test so be sure to read the directions completely.
The test is quick and easy so don’t put it off too long. Ultimately, having an appropriate fitting mask is your best protection against illness and harm.
EPIC
This may be the first time you have worked with EPIC. EPIC is an Electronic Medical Record (EMR). We are connected via EPIC to seven other hospitals in our area.
Staff have access to a tremendous amount of private information. As you may remember from your orientation, we should not access a patient’s chart unless we are actively working with the patient. This includes hoovering over the patient's name or opening any part of the patient's chart. The system conducts ongoing audits and shares this with managers.
If your manager has concerns about patient privacy, they may schedule a meeting to discuss this with you. If this happens, please ask for a union representative to attend the meeting with you. We will take notes, ask questions and clarify information with your permission.
If you go into a chart accidentally, please inform your manager as soon as possible and explain what happened.
Remember, we cannot go into our own charts either. If you would like to review information in your chart, please access My Chart or submit a request through Health Records.
