Advent is here -- as 2017 comes to a close and we prepare for the birth of Jesus and the opening of our new school there is so much excitement in the air.  I am sure you all have your special Advent things you do in your homes.  Enjoy the moments.

December Virtue of the Month -- Purity: keeping your soul free of sin.  The classroom teachers have great plans to explore the virtue of purity and a great virtue for the month of December during Advent.

Please stay posted to school calendar for all the fun activities we have going in December.  Please communicate if you have any questions.  We are here to serve our Catholic community.

  CHANGE IN MASS SCHEDULE NEXT WEEK!!!
Students will attend Mass next Thursday, Dec. 8th for the Feast of The Immaculate Conception.  Students with P.E. on Thursday will have P.E. on Wednesday Dec. 7th instead.  MASS UNIFORMS FOR ALL ON THURSDAY DEC. 8TH.  
T ECH- ES NEWS!
In Dec we will embark on the kids favorite, ' How It's Made' and will meet
Dec 7th and 14th. We are hoping to have a guest speaker for Dec 7th that
will discuss and show the club members the inside of gadgets like an iPad or
tablet. On Dec 14th the kids will explore the inside of other devices by
taking those donated items apart. We would love to have extra parental
assistance on Dec 14th. If you can help, bring tools to assist.
Additionally, we will be looking for donations of things we can take
apart. So far we have an old TV and a boom box.

                    FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE for CATHOLIC EDUCATION (FACE)
FACE provides assistance for children in Catholic elementary schools whose parent is single or widowed and shows a financial need.  Applications for the 2017/18 school year is open until December 15.  For more information go to www.CatholicFA.org or call them at 301-778-7644

Dear Sacred Heart Families, 

The library will be closing on December 1st, in order to prepare for the big move. Please have your students return all library books this week if possible. 

Looking forward,  December 17th  will be here before we know it. If you are able to volunteer your time to help pack and move the library, please let me know. There is so much to do in our little library and  I would like to be able to organize our efforts ahead of time to ensure a smooth transition. 

If you would like to volunteer for packing or moving  December 17th ,  please contact me at  alively@shswr.org . Email is also a good way to let me know if you have a question or concern about a lost book.

Sacred Heart Church Christmas Party
Dec. 10th.  Doors open at 6:00, Festivities begin at 7:00.  Tickets $20 per person/2 for $35.  You may purchase tickets in the school office.

  • Monday, December 5th 6:30 a.m. WMAZ Rise and Shine
  • December 14th: 9am Mass with a tribute to the Presentation Sisters to follow. Come walk through the old school one last time and tour the new building. Tell all alumni!!
  • December 17th: Move to the new building..all hands on deck please!
  • February 1st: Ribbon Cutting ceremony with Bishop Hartmeyer
  • February 4th: CELEBRATE our school with dinner and dancing in the new parish hall.

As you can see our students have been busy this month showing courtesy to one another along with our neighbors in need and the military. Remember to have them practice the monthly bible verse in order to earn 5 house points!

ATTENTION MIDDLE SCHOOLERS

Come  join Edge on Wednesdays from 4-5pm in the CYM room upstairs in the PAC for an after school Bible Study based on the Sunday Liturgical Readings with the SH Life Teen Missionaries.  A snack and drink will be provided.
