Greetings!

Summer in the Village! Wildflowers, creek jumps, early morning hikes, deer sightings, and bustling programming. Holden’s most energetic season has firmly taken hold in this valley, and we’re overjoyed to welcome our first cohort of guest Villagers in just a few days.

Starting next week, this newsletter will transition into a virtual programming space to share Village happenings with the world. We’ll profile the amazing work of our staff and teaching faculty, and share our learnings so you can journey along with us.

Listen to podcasts, watch videos, and read reflections from our incredible team of Villagers. We will also offer take-home activities so you can participate in Holden from home. Share these offerings with your friends and communities by forwarding this message and encouraging them to sign up for this e-newsletter here!

We’re grateful to be learning and growing alongside such amazing people, and we're grateful that you can journey along with us.

Faithfully,

Stacy Kitahata, Mark Bach, and Kathie Caemmerer-Bach
Holden Village Executive Directors
A safe summer getaway

Still looking for a safe family getaway this summer?

Come to Holden! All eligible guests, staff, and faculty are fully vaccinated for COVID-19, and kids get a rapid test upon arrival.
Holden at Home
The Village has been weathering a historic heat wave, but we've been staying cool with these tasty treats from the kitchen!
  • Make iced tea out of local herbs! We've been using the lemon balm and mint from our gardens for refreshing midday breaks.
  • Blend orange juice, water, ice, coconut milk, orange zest, vanilla, and sugar to taste for a cooling Orange Slushy!
  • Experiment with local fruits - like rhubarb! - for homemade popsicles.
Holden Voices
Our Porch Project is making great progress! The porch of Lodge 4 has transformed before our very eyes thanks to our dedicated crew of workers.

Listen to the podcast featuring John Lauber, Harrison Goodall, and Chris Gustafson discussing historic preservation.

"We have a treasure. The buildings here are fragile and susceptible to damage and deterioration. It is our privilege to be able care for them and be able to pass them on to next generations." ~ John Lauber
