Welcome to Summer 2019 at Lincoln Elementary!
We look forward to seeing and meeting you at Lincoln next week, or on the first day your child(ren) attend! Lincoln Elementary is located at 1961 Sixth Street. Upon arrival, please enter the main "A" doors where you will find our Welcome Area. There you will sign your child in on the iPad, fill out / turn in the necessary forms, and your child will pick up their tracker and proceed to the Cafeteria, our opening and closing space. Staff will be there to welcome you, and assist with navigating. If you arrive midday and do not see a staff, please check the Cafeteria.

Please read on for a lot of important information regarding summer. Even if you child has been in Extended Day before we ask that you take the time to read through to the end! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask!

WHAT TO BRING:
Field Trip T-shirts! PLEASE! ALWAYS make sure your child has their field trip t-shirt to wear on field trip days! It is for their safety and staff's peace of mind. Our field trips are often busy with other summer groups visiting the same places. When all of our kiddos have matching shirts we can keep track of them so much easier than if they blend in with any and every other child present. Safety First! We do not have extra shirts for children who come without.
Suits and Towels : Please make note of all water days, and days we have field trips to pools or water parks. Your child will be highly disappointed if they cant participate because they don't have swimwear and a towel. Many pools do not allow people to swim if they don't have swimwear: in other words: no shorts or other clothes not meant as swimwear. Unless your child has a swimsuit or a spare set of clothes at Lincoln, we cannot have them participate in a water day on site.
Footwear: Tennis shoes!! Tennis shoes!! Flip-flops, slides, and sandals are a great summer shoe, but are NOT great for the activities we do in Extended Day. A big part of our day is being active! Field trips, the gym, and outside all require a sturdier, safer shoe for the walking, running, and exploring that we do every day! Please send your student with tennis shoes!
Spare set of clothes : Please consider sending a complete change for your child to be kept in their locker or in a bag on their hook. Children may need a change of clothes for various reasons: accidents happen! We have found it can be an quite an inconvenience for families to have to come to Extended Day with clean or dry clothing. It can be less embarrassing for the kids to be able to take care of their own needs as well. If they have spare clothes, they can take care of themselves! It's a win-win way to be organized!
Water Bottle and Sunscreen: Always come with sunscreen already applied. We will be reapplying throughout the day. Summer is HOT and we offer many outside choices as well as outdoor field trips. We cannot stress enough the need for sunscreen to begin the day. If you prefer a certain kind of sunscreen, please feel welcome to bring / provide for your child and make sure it is labeled. A water bottle is a must too. Please make sure your students name is clearly marked on this as well.
Helmets: We have 2 Wheels Days (6/19 & 8/12), and one Wheels Week (7/1-7/3) scheduled for which your child will need a bike helmet in order to participate. We also have the Bike Fleet the week of 6/24-6/28 for our 3rd-4th Graders. They provide helmets, though you are welcome to bring your own.
Hats and sunglasses: If your child has a sensitivity to the sun you are encouraged to provide hats or sunglasses for outdoor use.
Money $$: Students will not NEED to bring money on any of our field trips. There are a few trips where children often choose to bring cash. There are concessions at all the pools, the Saints Game, Saints North, and a few others. It is your choice if you wish to send money with your child. We will do our best to help them keep track of it and to be responsible with it, but ultimately it is at your own risk to send cash.
            FIELD TRIPS
  • Field trip groups are split up based on the grade your child will be entering in the fall.
  • We ask that children wear their 'field trip shirt' on each field trip. You will receive this shirt on the first day of summer, and it is yours to keep. We also recommend tennis shoes for all field trips.
  • For swim trips, we provide a swim shirt for your child to wear over their suit. We will collect these at the end of each swim trip.
  • The cost of field trips is covered by your daily tuition, however, there may be some field trips where you have the option to bring additional spending money or purchase additional items. We will notify you of these special circumstances.
