Welcome!

I'm so glad you'll be joining us in our Lenten discussion series, The Search!

For all the unprecedented changes we've seen in the past few years, the essential human questions are still the same. Who am I? What do I want? Is there a point to my life?

Those are the questions we'll be exploring together in this series from the Augustine Institute. Here's what you need to do.

STEP ONE: Register at Formed.org
The video content is available through FORMED, an online source of Catholic education and entertainment. St. Mary's has a parish account, which means your access is FREE. But you do need to set up your account. Here's how.

  1. Visit FORMED.org or search for “Formed” in your app store to download on your device.
  2. Click Sign Up
  3. Select "I belong to a parish or organization"
  4. Find St. Mary’s Parish on the list (there are a lot of St. Mary’s parishes, so it’s easiest to search for “Sylva”)
  5. Enter your email address and you're in!

STEP TWO: WATCH
Once you are signed in, you'll be able to access all the videos in the series by searching for "The Search." But to make it simple, here's a direct link to the first episode, "What Do You Seek."
In Episode 1, we open hearts with a look at the question “what do you seek?” What is that deep longing in our hearts all about? We’re all living for something, and we all strive for that something out there that is ultimately going to make us happy. But what is it? For some, this question is on their minds every day. For others, life goes by in a flash without even asking the question.

This episode is 24 minutes long. Please find time to watch it before 4:00 pm this Friday, Feb. 19.

STEP THREE: Join us on Discord
If you are not already part of our Discord server, click here for an invite. We'll be using the "Living Room" voice channel for our discussion, which will begin at 4:00 pm and last approximately 45 minutes.

If you'd rather meet in person, we do have room in our actual living room for up to eight people with social distancing (masks required), where I'll be logged on from each Friday. Just let me know if you plan on joining us in person so I can confirm that we have space.

If you have any questions or have trouble accessing the material, please let me know. I look forward to exploring these questions of life's meaning with you this Lent!

In Christ,
Deacon Matt
