Hi NTC Student,

Welcome to your very first Navigator, the official e-newsletter for first-year students at Tulane!

We encourage you to get in the habit of checking your Tulane email regularly as you will receive a new edition of the Navigator often, beginning this summer and continuing throughout your entire first year. The Navigator is designed to support your transition to Tulane by connecting you with campus resources, informing you of upcoming events and opportunities, and offering recommendations for the ultimate first-year experience!

In this Navigator, you will hear from the Interim Dean of Newcomb-Tulane College, Dean J. Celeste Lay, and receive an introduction to the New Student Modules and New Student Checklist. We’re so happy you’re here and can’t wait to welcome you to campus very soon!

In preparation for your arrival to campus, we have designed a collection of online New Student Modules to help you navigate the transition to college life, gain a better understanding of academic expectations, and learn about resources available to you on campus. Consider these your first homework assignments as a Tulane student.

Check your Tulane inbox as you should have received a Canvas invitation to join the modules earlier today! If you are unable to locate the invitation, be sure to check your other inboxes or simply login to Canvas with your Tulane Single-Sign On (SSO). The New Student Modules can be found on your Dashboard.

By completing these modules, you will feel more prepared, confident, and connected as you begin your academic journey at Tulane. If you’re ever lost and don’t know where to start, just reach out us!

The first module you will complete is an introduction to academics at Tulane. You will meet a variety of departments within Newcomb-Tulane College and Student Affairs. From College Advising to Campus Services, these campus partners are eager to make your first year the best it can be.

To help you stay on track with upcoming deadlines, we have created a New Student Checklist of important tasks to complete prior to your arrival. We highly encourage you to download the checklist and review it at the beginning of each month for a reminder of approaching deadlines.

Below are tasks to be completed in May:

  • Complete the New Student Module for May. You should have received an invitation to join this module in your Tulane email earlier today!
  • May 10: Deadline to complete the Housing Application and supplemental Residential Learning Community Application. You will receive an email from Housing & Residence Life with more instructions regarding these applications.
  • Request academic and housing accommodations through the Goldman Center for Student Accessibility and submit any necessary documentation.
