A Word from the President

Dear Colleagues and Friends:

Greetings & Welcome to Our Mid Year 2026 Newsletter!

The weather may still be hot here in downtown West Palm Beach, but fall is officially here! I’m currently spending two weeks in Southern Spain with my youngest son, Andres, exploring the history, culture, and incredible architecture of Barcelona, Valencia, Granada, Córdoba, and Madrid.

One thing that continues to impress me is how easy it is to experience these historic European cities on foot and how seamlessly they are connected by high-speed rail. It reminds me of what we love about downtown West Palm Beach: great walkability, an active urban realm, and strong connections between people and places.

It also gets an architect thinking: Could Florida someday build upon its rail roots and do the same? Imagine connecting Florida’s east coast, west coast, and central spine by rail, creating stronger connections north, south, east, and west. Maybe that dream isn’t so far away!

Back home, there is plenty to be excited about at REG. After 38 years in business, we are continuing to experience record growth in 2026, and this is shaping up to be our best year yet!

Our newest assignments include projects with the School District of Palm Beach County and the Diocese of Palm Beach, along with a growing portfolio of commercial, mixed-use, senior housing, club, and historic projects. Our work continues to take us across Florida, including Riviera Beach, Port St. Lucie, West Palm Beach, Lake Wales, Sarasota, Palm Beach, and beyond. We are also continuing our ongoing assignments for the Trump Organization at all four of their South Florida clubs.

The future looks bright at REG, and we are incredibly grateful to our clients, colleagues, friends, and community partners who continue to be part of our journey.

I hope you enjoy our Fall Newsletter, and I look forward to working with you soon! And next time you’re in downtown West Palm Beach, stop by our recently expanded offices for a tour and a cup of coffee. We’d love to see you!

Warm regards,

-Rick Gonzalez, AIA, President

Completed Projects - 2026

House of Refuge - "Gilbert's Bar", Stuart

A recently completed restoration of the historic House of Refuge Visitor Center & Museum in Stuart, Florida received an award from the AIA Palm Beach! Originally erected in 1876 as a life-saving station for shipwrecked sailors, this iconic Hutchinson Island landmark has stood between the Atlantic Ocean and Indian River for nearly 150 years. The project included extensive structural repairs along with restoration and upgrades to the building’s roof, exterior wood siding, windows and doors, reconstructed porch deck, chimney, drainage system, and exterior features. REG was proud to work alongside Martin County and The Tradesman Group to preserve this remarkable piece of Florida’s maritime history for future generations to experience and enjoy.

Mirasol West Guardhouse, Palm Beach Gardens

Now completed, the new West Guardhouse for The Country Club at Mirasol in Palm Beach Gardens was designed to enhance both security operations and the arrival experience for residents and guests. The new two-story, 4,800-square-foot facility includes modern offices, a dedicated security room, storage areas, and an upstairs training room with a kitchenette. Two covered vehicular lanes were also incorporated to improve controlled access and traffic circulation. Constructed by Mouw & Associates, the completed guardhouse provides Mirasol with a refined new gateway that combines functionality, security, and a welcoming architectural presence reflective of the community’s high standards.

Projects Under Construction

Tuttle Mixed-Use, West Palm Beach

Construction continues to progress at the Tuttle Mixed-Use Development along N. Olive Avenue in West Palm Beach, with Black Diamond now building through the third floor. The three-story live-work project features a distinctive Art Deco-inspired architectural design that brings a unique character to the North Olive corridor, just blocks from downtown. One of the building’s defining features is the curved exterior wall along the front façade, which is now taking shape in the field and has been expertly executed by the Black Diamond team. As construction continues upward, the project is beginning to reveal the architectural character envisioned throughout the design process.

Calvary Christian Academy School Expansion,

Port St. Lucie

The Calvary Christian Academy campus is undergoing a major transformation as its new three-story expansion takes shape in Port St. Lucie. Remnant Construction has completed much of the shell of the classroom addition and is now progressing through interior construction, while the existing gymnasium is nearing full enclosure. Once complete, the 57,700-square-foot expansion will provide new classrooms, offices, science labs, a media center, band room, locker facilities, and other enhanced spaces for the growing campus. Adding another layer of complexity, construction is being carefully coordinated while the existing school remains active and operational, requiring close collaboration between the design team, contractor, and school to maintain a safe and functional campus throughout construction.

Roseland Gardens Senior Housing, West Palm Beach

Roseland Gardens Senior Housing has reached a major construction milestone, with JWR Construction recently topping off the new four-story buildings in West Palm Beach. A partnership between the West Palm Beach Housing Authority and Smith Henzy Affordable Group, Phase I will deliver 148 affordable senior housing units across two residential buildings, along with a new community clubhouse, helping address the continued need for attainable housing options for seniors in the area. As construction advances, the scale of the development is becoming increasingly visible from Southern Boulevard, offering passersby a glimpse of the new community taking shape. Once fully developed through Phase II, Roseland Gardens is planned to provide approximately 300 residential units across the 11-acre site.

Projects Moving Through Design

Riviera Gateway, Downtown Riviera Beach

We are excited to be advancing the design of Riviera Gateway on the corner of Blue Heron and Broadway, a transformative mixed-use development envisioned to help establish a long-awaited downtown core for the City of Riviera Beach. Developed by New York-based Exact Capital and builder The Penta Group as their first project in Florida and a partnership with the Riviera Beach Housing Authority, the development will introduce a dynamic mix of market-rate residential, workforce senior housing, retail, restaurant, and community-oriented uses along the Broadway corridor. The current design includes an 18-story residential tower to the east and an eight-story workforce senior housing building to the west, with active ground-floor retail intended to strengthen the pedestrian experience and bring new energy to the surrounding area. Riviera Gateway represents an exciting step toward creating a more vibrant, connected, and identifiable urban center for Riviera Beach.

Banyan Groves, Hobe Sound

The design team is putting the finishing touches on Banyan Groves, a new mixed-use development planned along Bridge Road in the heart of Hobe Sound. The project combines ground-floor commercial space with apartments above, along with six three-story luxury townhomes that will be offered for sale. Designed to contribute to the walkable, mixed-use character of the corridor, the development will introduce new residential and commercial activity while maintaining an intimate scale appropriate to the surrounding community. With design nearing completion, the team is looking ahead to the next major milestone as the project moves closer to construction.

Special Events

AIA Florida Conference & Award

Brian and Manuel proudly represented REG Architects at this year’s AIA Florida Conference, where the firm received statewide recognition for its work on the historic DeSoto County Courthouse. The award celebrates REG’s commitment to thoughtful preservation and the careful stewardship of one of Florida’s important civic landmarks. It was a proud moment for the team and another meaningful acknowledgment of the firm’s longstanding expertise in historic preservation.

AIA National Conference, San Diego

Dominic represented REG Architects at the annual AIA Conference on Architecture & Design in San Diego, joining professionals from across the country to explore the latest developments shaping the architecture industry. From emerging technologies and design trends to evolving professional practices, the conference provided valuable insight into where the profession is headed. Dominic returned with new ideas and perspectives that will help keep REG connected to current industry thinking and best practices.

Florida Trust for Historic Preservation Conference 2026, St. Petersburg

This May, Rick and Brigitte attended the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation Conference in downtown St. Petersburg, where REG once again proudly supported the event as a sponsor. The annual conference brought together preservation professionals, advocates, and community leaders from across the state to share ideas, challenges, and best practices shaping Florida’s historic places. Rick also had the opportunity to lead several of his favorite sessions, contributing his experience and perspective to conversations centered on preservation, adaptive reuse, and the continued stewardship of Florida’s architectural heritage.

Preservation on Mainstreet Conference 2026, Cocoa Beach

Historic preservation took center stage in Cocoa Beach as Rick and Ricardo joined this year’s Preservation on Main Street Conference, with REG once again serving as a proud event sponsor. Hosted within the community’s historic Main Street district, the conference brought together preservation professionals, community leaders, and advocates from across Florida. REG also contributed to the program by participating in three educational sessions throughout the event. One of the week’s most memorable moments came at the awards dinner, held at the Kennedy Space Center beneath the iconic Saturn V rocket as an unforgettable setting to celebrate preservation, place, and Florida history.

Volunteering at the Education Foundation's Backpack Drive!

Ricardo, Jorge, Dominic, Juan, and Cynthia volunteered their time to support the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County’s annual Backpack Drive, helping prepare essential school supplies for local students as they headed into the new school year. The event was a great opportunity for members of the REG team to step outside the office, work together, and give back to the community we are proud to call home. Supporting local students and families is one small way our team can help make a positive impact beyond the projects we design.

REG's Annual 4th of July Company Picnic!

The REG team celebrated our annual Fourth of July company picnic at Ocean Cay Park in Juno Beach with an afternoon of good food, friendly competition, and plenty of laughs. The team fired up the grill, hit the field for a competitive soccer match, learned a few new moves with some line dancing, and enjoyed time relaxing on the beach. Most importantly, it was a great opportunity to step away from the office and enjoy time together as a team. And apparently, all that activity was enough for Rick, who was caught sneaking in a well-earned nap in the hammock!
