If you are burning out at work or at home, it probably means you are saying “yes” to specific tasks or invites when a “no” would serve you better. Some of us struggle with this balance more than others. If you are a person who says “yes” often and stretches yourself too thin, we challenge you to practice saying “no.” Saying “no” to tasks or invites that drain your energy frees you up to say “yes” to more activities that replenish your energy.
We are not suggesting a blanket “no” to all requests or invites because there will be times when you cannot say no to something for various reasons. During some seasons of life, you may not have the economic margin to honor your feelings–sometimes things that pay the bills don’t bring you joy. Just remember if you make it a priority you can eventually work your way out of jobs or obligations that deaden your spirit.
