Welcome to the Winter 1 season!
The first week of practices and skills training (for Combo Packages) began this week and games begin this Saturday, November 15th.
Thank you for trusting us to provide a high-quality, positive basketball experience for your child. Whether you're returning or new to Alodia, we’re thrilled to have you as part of our community!
As we begin, we want to share a few reminders and tips to help your family have a successful, fun season — on and off the court.
🏀 Our Mission
At Alodia, we are focused on Developing the Next Generation of Leaders through Sports. Basketball is a powerful platform for teaching life lessons like teamwork, discipline, and resilience.
✅ Tips for a Positive Season
Be a Great Sports Parent
- One of the main reasons kids stop playing sports? The car ride home.
- The 10 words every young athlete wants to hear: “I love watching you play and am proud of you.”
- Wait 24 hours before offering constructive feedback — to your child, a coach, the team, each other, or referee. This pause often leads to better conversations and less conflict.
-
More great tips can be found on the season information page or by clicking HERE.
Model Respect & Positivity
- Praise effort — not just wins — and encourage respect for teammates, opponents, referees, coaches, and Alodia staff.
- Never criticize coaches, referees, or anyone in front of children. They're doing their best, just like your child.
-
It is better to be KIND than right.
Support Coaches & Referees
- Coaches are volunteering their time — please show appreciation and give grace.
- Referees won’t get every call right — but they deserve respect. Please model the behavior you would want a parent to have if your own child was officiating!
-
Seek to understand and give benefit of the doubt - great for diffusing (versus escalating) conflict...and emotions.
Stay Present & Enjoy the Moment
- Time goes by fast. Cheer loudly, smile often, and make new connections with other families.
-
Consider getting involved — coaching, keeping score, running the clock. This ROI (Return on Involvement) makes a big difference.
💡 Final Thought
Life is about choices. We cannot control what happens to us - but we CAN control how we respond.
We know you may have questions as the season begins. We simply ask that you trust and embrace the process. We’ve been refining our programs over many seasons, and our team is always here to help.
Need help at any time during the season? Alodia Supervisors are on-site at all practices and games wearing Alodia shirts, and we're always available via email, text, or call. Please make us aware of any situation so that we can help during the season versus after the fact.
Thank you for joining us. Let’s all make it a great season — both on and off the court!
