Dear Neighbors,

March was a productive and engaging month across District 6. From neighborhood meetings and community clean-ups to budget discussions and local events, it was a pleasure connecting with hundreds of residents and dozens of organizations. We were particularly glad to visit the neighborhood associations of Alameda Park, Gardner, Glenside-Riviera, Rosemary Gardens, and Willow Glen and know that we always appreciate these invitations and encourage all residents to keep us apprised of important, or even casual, gatherings where you might like our participation.

Looking ahead, April will be just as busy and provides more opportunities to celebrate and engage with our community. As part of our ongoing budget discussions, we invite you to join Districts 1, 3, 6, and 7 Budget Town Hall on Monday, April 20 at 6PM at 701 Vine St. This is an important opportunity to share your priorities and help shape upcoming decisions. Additionally, your District 6 office is bringing recognition to Autism Awareness Month for the first time at the City, starting with a ceremonial Flag Raising on Tuesday, April 7 at 12PM at City Hall, and will continue with several Council commendations throughout the month.

Residents are also encouraged to explore the Game On, SJ26 App, now available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The app offers a fun and interactive way to learn about our 2026 Sportsarama, with NCAA regionals behind us and FIFA World Cup just ahead, to help you engage, learn, and earn prizes while exploring our community and sporting events.

This edition of our bi-monthly newsletter includes many important updates on traffic safety, park improvements, business resources, community highlights, and more. Thank you for staying connected with District 6, and we look forward to seeing you at events throughout April.

Public Notice

Ballot on Proposed Mosquito, Vector, and Disease Control Assessment 

Starting March 18, 2026, property owners in Santa Clara County started to receive ballots by mail regarding a proposed assessment to fund mosquito and vector control, as well as disease prevention services. If approved, the measure would provide additional funding for year-round services related to mosquito and vector management. For more information on this measure, please refer to Santa Clara County Mosquito and Vector Control District.

Community Spotlight

This has been a standout year for high school athletics across District 6, with several teams achieving historic milestones. We’re proud to recognize the hard work, dedication, and passion these student-athletes bring to their sports and our community.

Del Mar High School: The Dons boys' soccer team delivered a season of excellence, culminating in their first-ever CCS championship. After defeating Santa Clara and Monterey High Schools in the semifinals, they clinched the title with a 0–0 (5–3 PKs) victory over Christopher (Gilroy, CA). Key moments included crucial saves by goalkeeper Alex Kahn and the decisive penalty kick from Kevin Garcia. This historic win reflects years of dedication from players and coaches alike—congratulations, Dons!

Willow Glen High School: The Rams boys basketball team won their first CCS Division II title since 1969 with a 47–44 comeback victory over Saint Francis (Mt. View, CA). The season also brought major individual honors, including Cadien Morefield (Co-League MVP & CCS Scholar-Athlete of the Year), Brayden Guamabo (Junior of the Year), and Miles Ingram (Sophomore of the Year), among others. An incredible season for the Rams.

Bellarmine: The Bells wrestling team earned an impressive 3rd-place finish at the CCS Masters Tournament, led by standout performances from Julian Holguin (1st), Tommy Holguin (1st), Rocco Biasotti (2nd), James Hayden (2nd), and Jason Liau (3rd). A strong showing and a great season for Bellarmine.

Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches, and their families and friends who support them, on an outstanding year. And if you know of other key accomplishments by other D6 schools, be sure to let us know. 

District Project Updates 

In the District

This effort grew out of ongoing conversations with site staff about expanding their native plantings and enhancing the surrounding landscape. Thanks to the dedication of our partners and volunteers, the impact is already visible. We invite you to visit the site, explore its history, and experience the beauty of its growing native garden. Thank you to everyone who helped make this meaningful day possible.

NVIDIA Clean-Up

The District 6 team joined the Mayor for a community clean-up in the Downtown West area on March 7, 2026, in preparation for the NVIDIA conference.

We extend our thanks to San José Jazz for providing equipment, and to the Dublin delegation, including Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councilor Ray McAdam, members of the Dublin City Council, Councilor Feljin Jose and Councilor Racheal Batten, and Chief Executive Richard Shakespeare, for joining us. It was a wonderful evening celebrating connection, creativity, and international partnership.

Crewner's Grand Opening

Crewner’s celebrated the grand opening of their new location at 1393 Lincoln Avenue on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Known for putting a modern spin on the classic barbershop experience, Crewner's is an exclusive two-chair shop that emphasizes precision, attention to detail, and personalized service. 

This year is especially meaningful, as Crewner’s marks 15 years in business and opens their first storefront since the pandemic. We were honored to present a commendation to owners Dan Dixon and Alex Enriquez at the grand opening, recognizing their 15 years of dedication to the community and small business excellence.

Congratulations, Dan and Alex, on this exciting milestone!

Community Cycles Requesting Bicycle Donations

Do you have a bike collecting dust in your garage? Donate it to Community Cycles of California and turn it into opportunity.

At Community Cycles of California, we believe bikes change lives. Every

donated bike goes through a comprehensive 60-point refurbishment and

safety inspection by our trained staff and workforce development

participants. From there, your bike takes one of two impactful paths:

• It may go directly into our Earn-A-Bike program supporting unhoused and low-income neighbors in gaining reliable transportation. Participants complete six hours of community service and earn a free, refurbished bike of their own.
• Or it may be sold through our nonprofit social enterprise, with 100% of proceeds reinvested into our free bike programs, workforce training, and community repair clinics.

Your unused bike can become reliable transportation, a pathway to

employment, or a source of independence for someone in our community.

We accept:

• Quality bikes of all types and sizes
• Bikes with flat tires or few broken/missing parts
• Gently used parts and accessories

Ready to donate? Come by 35 Wilson Ave Tuesday - Saturday from 10AM - 5PM. All donations are tax deductible.
