Welcome to our new monthly newsletter!
Dear Sustainable LA Grand Challenge community,

Admittedly, it's been a while!

We are proud to launch this monthly newsletter. Our goal is to give you only what you need, in a timely manner, in order to keep you informed on the UCLA Sustainable LA Grand Challenge. Changing to a monthly format will allow us to focus on the 2 or 3 biggest stories coming out of our initiative each month — and it will keep your time commitment and scrolling to a minimum.

Our first edition is led by such exciting news — transformational new programming and a new partnership that includes a milestone gift. We can only imagine what more will transpire in 2023 as we work together to change Los Angeles and change the world!

Sincerely,

Eric M. V. Hoek, Ph.D.
Director, UCLA Sustainable LA Grand Challenge

Cassie Rauser, Ph.D.
Executive Director, UCLA Sustainable LA Grand Challenge
New signature programming: TRACtion
TRACtion will bring UCLA scholars from across campus together with community stakeholders to address a rotating list of four key topics related to sustainability (transportation, energy, water, ecosystems). First up: Transforming Transportation with our partners at the Institute of Transportation Studies!

Landmark partnership with Liquid I.V.
Wellness company Liquid I.V. committed $542,986 to help fund innovative solutions to expand access to clean and abundant water for communities in need, and create the next-generation of climate and sustainability advocates through our undergraduate and graduate student programming.
