In this edition: Meet our new Green Initiative Lead Dr. Myles Sergeant, apply for a role on our Green Team,& register for a webinar on dealing with feelings of grief, depression, anxiety, and hopelessness as it relates to our environment.

Hamilton Family Health Team is pleased to announce that Dr. Myles Sergeant is the new Family Physician Lead for our Green Initiative. Dr. Sergeant has been in practice for 25 years, serving vulnerable populations including new immigrants and refugees, people experiencing homelessness and/or addictions, and the elderly. He is a co-founder of the not-for-profit Shelter Health Network and continues to care for patients in this capacity.

Dr. Sergeant’s passion and dedication to environmental sustainability shines through in all that he does. Dr. Sergeant is a co-founder of Partnerships for Environmental Action by Clinicians and Communities for Health care facilities (PEACH) and the charity Trees for Hamilton

What comes alongside the pleasure of announcing Dr. Sergeant’s new position on our team is the gratitude our community shares for the Green Initiative’s founder, the brilliant Dr. Meghan Davis, who built this initiative from the ground up, from sorting through her own clinic’s garbage for a week to better understand their sources of waste, to building clinical and EMR tools, training sessions, and inspiring others to provide health care more sustainably across the country. Dr. Davis led this work alongside a powerhouse Project Manager – Tia Gayowski – who analyzed research, applied for grants, prepared reports, presentations, infographics, newsletters and more. Dr. Davis and Tia really were a dynamic duo, and it is no surprise that they won a few awards for their work over the past few years. You may recall Dr. Davis and Tia announcing their transition to focus on other aspects of their lives in our August edition of the Green Corner

We are still looking for a Research Assistant/Project Management Rockstar!
