Excited and Hopeful...

I walked over 10,000 steps yesterday, up and down the stairs of our new home, the church rectory. My legs are sore. I’m not used to that many steps or stairs. My brain is tired; we left Columbus, Mississippi last Thursday and drove for four days, with our two toddlers, who against all odds (but through the miracle of prayer) were just shy of perfect on the drive.

There are a lot of things I would like to say in this, my first official newsletter - things profound, erudite, and thought provoking. After looking at my monitor for too long and several spans of backspacing, this is what I want to say now: I am glad to be here at St. Francis. I am looking forward to getting to know you, to worshiping, learning, and growing in Christ with you. I am tired, but I am also excited, hopeful and open to listening to where the Spirit is leading us.

More than anything, I am looking forward to our community faithfully living out the words we have posted in our chancel: to love God, love each other, and serve the world. I feel blessed to be a part of this congregation, and I am eager to serve.

Over the past 50 years, the annual Antiques Show has raised more than a half million dollars that has supported the Mission and Outreach Ministries of St. Francis Parish. This show is one of the longest-running charity antiques shows in California. Produced by the Episcopal Church Women of St. Francis Church, the Show is run and staffed by parishioners and volunteers.
