Dear Families of the Academy of the Sacred Heart,

It is with great joy and enthusiasm that I write to you today. I wish to welcome each student and parent back to school for what should be an outstanding year. While we anticipate a few bumps in the road, due to ongoing pandemic, our theme this year is sure to captivate your imagination.
Our theme is: Character: The Work of a Lifetime. The staff at the Sacred Heart has pondered the implications and has concluded that we can all work on building stronger character, whether we are 3 or 63 years of age. As Catholics, we have an obligation to demonstrate charitable character, to behave with good character, to make wise decisions based on our strong character. We are also blessed with knowing that God’s love and grace allows us to build our character even further through good deeds, prayer, reconciliation and forgiveness of each other’s trespasses.

Nietzche wrote: “There will always be rocks in the road ahead of us. They will be stumbling blocks or stepping stones; it all depends on how you use them.” At Sacred Heart, we will model for each other what it means to keep moving forward as we use the stepping stones to become stronger and more resilient.

The faculty and staff have planned many events and activities. It is our sincere hope that there is something for everyone-whether student, parent or stakeholder. There will be many opportunities to shine academically and socially. We look forward to competitive sports as well the arts, and we are very excited about the renovations happening on the Rosary campus. We will continue to seek your counsel regarding fundraising efforts and appreciate all those who have already come forward with ideas and contributions.

As always, we will need the support of our parents to keep our school safe from Covid-19 infections. We are asking parents to make wise decisions regarding socializing in groups and mask-wearing when indoors. We will continue to monitor the situation and will keep following all of the safety protocols already in place, and we ask humbly that you partner with us by keeping your daughter at home if she is feeling ill or has symptoms which you find concerning.

I wish to thank my staff and the Board of Trustees for the incredibly warm welcome that I have received. I am delighted to be a part of this wonderful school and pledge to serve the community with all that I can give. Let’s make this the very best school year ever Cardinals!

Sincerely,
Micheline Dutil
Head of School
