Dear United Families,

We are seven days from the start of a new season. Before I get into upcoming events, I wanted to thank Hamid for his leadership over the past 8 years with the club at SAA. The organization has evolved over the years from individual, grassroot, parent coached teams to a cohesive club with shared visions and administration.

The 2020-21 season has officially commenced with the completion of the summer camps. We had nearly 100 participants between the three camps. For those that participated, continue to stay active this week. For those that were not able to attend a camp, find time this week to spend some time with your soccer ball. We can now look forward to the 2021-22 season.

The new season will consist of a good balance in improving on areas where we once excelled as well as introducing some new ideas to the club. Thank you for all the feedback we received in the survey we sent out. I am reviewing the feedback with our Commissioner, Angel Phelps. We are looking at the recurring themes where we can improve. The Board and coaching staff will be setting a couple goals to improve this year. I will be communicating more on this later.

I would like to announce that I will be assisted by Declan Lynch, Associate Director of Coaching. Declan has been with Sports Club United for the past 9 years. He has developed over the years to work with boys and girls U9-U23. He continues to develop on a regular basis as he seeks various coaching certificates and licenses. I have come to trust Declan in his ability to contribute and make decisions that are in the best interest of the children in our program. This year, you will notice Declan and I will have a greater presence at team training and matches. We welcome you to introduce yourself or just say hello.

You will see an increase in communication from me this season. Starting with the next seven days. I will be releasing a countdown to the season over the next seven days. I will be providing important information so please be sure to look for each communication. Here is a quick look at the information you will be receiving.

  • Next week’s 4 day schedule
  • Fall Training Times
  • Introduction to the coaching staff and team assignments
  • Annual Club calendar
  • New uniforms
  • Organization goals for 2021-22
  • Other administrative requirements before we begin the season

I look forward to the new season and have high expectations as it relates to each child’s individual development in the sport.
