Welcome to the 2024-2025 Safe Employee Recognition Campaign

Thank you for serving as your organization's Safe Employee Recognition Campaign (SERC) Contact this program year. SERC is excited to provide your organization with the opportunity to recognize and reward safe employees. Below you will find a brief overview of SERC, split into 2 parts, along with essential tools to facilitate the campaign across your organization.

Immediate Recognition:

Part 1 | October 2024 - February 7, 2025

Materials: SERC Scratch-off Tickets and Tumblers*

The Immediate Recognition Program begins on the date of your choice in October 2024 and runs through February 7, 2025. The program is designed to immediately recognize employees for safe practices. We recommend you distribute SERC Scratch-off Tickets to participating department supervisors. When a supervisor identifies an employee practicing safety during the workday, they can award a scratch-off ticket. Tickets are randomized, with 1 in 5 winning a SERC Tumbler. We encourage you to make available the Nomination Form for supervisors to complete in support of recognized employees deserving of a higher-level honor, regardless of whether they have a winning scratch-off ticket (see SERC Part 2).


Who is eligible to participate? You may designate all staff to be eligible, or you may limit participation by department. Outsourced departments/staff are not eligible.


Remember: Your organization can develop its own criteria to award safe employees — criteria that best suit participating departments. The Immediate Recognition Program is your program to administer as you see fit for your organization. The goal of the program is to help you promote safety!


*SERC Scratch-off Tickets and Tumblers will be mailed to you in 2 separate shipments the week of Oct. 1.

Honor Roll:

Part 2 | February 10 - March 7, 2025

Materials: SERC Honor Roll Selection Form**

Employees recognized during SERC Part 1 are eligible for the SERC Safe Employee Honor Roll, designed to honor those who have the greatest impact on safety across your organization.


Beginning February 10 through March 7, 2025, you can submit the name and jacket size details of your honor roll recipient via the online Honor Roll Selection Form. You may develop your own selection criteria, but we suggest you remind department supervisors during SERC Part 1 to submit a Nomination Form for each employee awarded a scratch-off ticket AND considered to be deserving of a higher-level honor. Here in Part 2, you can gather these nominations and assemble a selection committee if needed to make a decision. You may have multiple honor roll selections available depending on the size of your organization — more details will come in February 2025. The honor roll award (SERC jacket embroidered with employee and organization name) will be delivered in early May 2025.


**The online Honor Roll Selection Form will be sent to you via email in early February 2025.

Tips and Tricks

Steps for Facilitating SERC

As SERC Contact, you may keep in mind a few tips and tricks to facilitate SERC:

  • Regularly promote the SERC process among eligible employees via the Promotional Flyer. Electronically distribute the PDF to employees and/or print+post copies in highly visible locations.
  • Distribute the Nomination Form to department supervisors. Remind supervisors throughout Part 1 to submit a nomination to you for each employee they consider to be deserving of a higher-level honor.
  • Encourage department supervisors to communicate examples of safe behaviors to employees. This helps employees understand the types of behaviors that may get them recognized by SERC.
  • Encourage employees to give their co-workers a SERC Shout Out if they recognize safe practices during the workday.
  • Inform department supervisors of your process for presenting prize tumblers to employees with winning scratch-off tickets.
  • Ensure all completed nomination forms are submitted to you no later than February 7, 2025.
  • Monitor your email inbox for SERC updates we send throughout the program year.
