“God in his holy place, God who unites those who dwell in his house;
He himself gives might and strength to his people.”
My sincere greetings to all of you very special ladies of our Lincoln Diocese! The above is the
Entrance Antiphon from last Sunday, July 30. We surely have been united in his house and certainly gives us our might and strength!
I’m happy to share that our Council of ladies from across our diocese was well represented at the WeTeachThink Annual Brunch held in the Lincoln, Cornhusker Marriot Ballroom Saturday, July 29. I encourage you to be open to hosting a “Table of Eight” at next year’s brunch. Arriving a few minutes early gave us time to connect and greet others attending the brunch. We enjoyed a fabulous brunch, an entertaining speaker who highlighted the power of generosity in our lives, and an informative presentation by Angela Copenhaver. If you aren’t acquainted with Angela’s powerful mission to protect human life you can check her out at, https://www.weteachthink.com/. Donna Havlat can let you know what to expect if you would like to help Angela further her mission by hosting a “Table of Eight” at next years’ brunch.

Second Sunday Faith Sharing
Have you felt the nudge to step up and maybe even step out of your comfort zone a bit
to share a blessing or two that God with his infinite love has showered upon you or your
family? It’s okay if it’s short, or long, or somewhere in between! One of the dismissals at
the end of Mass is: “Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life.”
I would appreciate your text or call saying you would like to start or end us with a prayer
or meditation, or that you are willing to share a moment of grace or blessing in your life.
Many thanks to each of you that have already generously shared or led us in prayer!
We need each other to build us up in the body of Christ!
Our next time of sharing is August 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Sister Loretta Gosen Memorial Archives
Since we last met, I have had the privilege of visiting with Sr. Patricia at the Chancery and
viewing the archives and museum items. This area is closed to the public as it is also shared with office space. During Kathy Rowell’s term the Bishop’s Project was a display case for the museum items. I visited with Sister Patricia about this donation. She said the money will be kept earmarked for this project. At present the location of this display case hasn’t been decided upon. There are several factors that weigh into the location of the museum items. Among those are, they need a staffed secure place, and it must be climate controlled. Below is an article from the Register about these items and pictures I took.
Sr. Patricia Radek, M.S, Archivist., Chancery Office
The mission of the Sister Loretta Gosen Memorial Archives - Museum of the Diocese of Lincoln is to collect, preserve, and make accessible the history of the People of God of the Diocese of Lincoln. The diocesan archives are to serve as a means of spreading the Gospel, maintaining true Catholic culture, understanding the development of the Church in the Diocese of Lincoln, and aiding the local Church in her efforts to work for the salvation of souls. The archive holdings include various documents, photos, and museum items pertaining to the history of the parishes, schools, hospitals, institutions, organizations, priests, religious communities, and lay persons who have influenced the Diocese of Lincoln.
Below are two links. The first is the complete article that was printed in the Register. The
second is an easy access slide show of those pictures in the museum.

• Supply a basket with a theme (such as coffee or the Blessed Virgin Mary) for the Basket Silent Auction. The theme can be religious but does not have to be. You start with a basket of any size and add items to represent the theme. Usually, the basket will be wrapped in clear cellophane and a list of the items inside is attached to the basket. A minimum of $50 worth of items is suggested but not required. These can be brought to the John XXIII Center in Lincoln on Friday after 3 PM or Saturday morning by 9 AM. Welcome to August!
The most important part of our worship is the Eucharist, where Jesus is truly present. We can really meet him with our senses! Many of the saints we celebrate this month had a special love for
the Eucharist. This month, pray for your parish priest after Mass and set aside some time for confession for your family. Pray for your children or other young men who may be called to the priesthood. St John Vianney (August 4) is the patron saint of parish priests. St. Clare of Assisi
(August 11) was a good friend to St Francis. Her name means “bright,” and she shared the Light of Christ with everyone –even the raiders who once tried to invade her convent. When they did she held up the Blessed Sacrament in front of them and they ran away. She is the patron saint of
television –tune into live coverage of World Youth Day from Lisbon, Portugal beginning August 1st thru the 6th on EWTN TV or online. August is full of saints to remember and honor. Set aside time this month to pray in front of the Blessed Sacrament with Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the Saints. +
DIVINE MERCY – Bonnie Damrow
On August 13, 1917, three shepherd children were brave as martyrs, 7 year old Jacinta, 9 year old Francisco and 10 year old Lucia. Mary, the Mother of God was to appear to these 3 children on the 13th of each month
at Noon. But on this day, the children were deceived and taken to jail with male prisoners. The prison administration threatened to throw the children in boiling water if they did not tell the secret they had learned from Our Lady. The children refused and even got the men to kneel and pray with them.
Jacinta prayed “O my Jesus! This is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners, for the Holy Father, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”
May we have childlike faith and courage in our daily lives like these small children.
EUCHARIST REVIVAL
YEAR OF THE PARISH REVIVAL Jun 11, 2023 to Jul 17, 2024
This year there will be many reinvigorating workshops, personal encounters, robust faith formation, and missionary sending, as they are all an important part of the Eucharistic Revival.
At our parish, families have started hosting “Fireside Chats” with small groups attending, along with a priest when he is available. Expectation: for small groups to continue meeting on a regular schedule.
President's note: If you parish has an eucharistic event you would like to share please submit it to ldccwpresident@gmail.com. Check with your parish to see what they are offering for the Eucharistic Revival.

Roll out those lazy crazy hazy days of summer, those days of pretzels and soda and beer. I can remember hearing that song on the radio when I was a kid. Well, I think they are here. It’s too hot to go outside, I am so thankful to have the air conditioning to stay cool. Saying a prayer for those who work outside. May their labors be short today.
If you get a chance to see the movie, Sounds of Freedom, consider going. The topic is a tough one, but one that needs to be brought out in the open. The horrors of what is done to those trafficked children will linger with them for a very long time.
School will be starting soon, some communities will have backpack programs that aid those children who don’t have the resources to purchase items needed for school. Consider their needs if you have an opportunity.
Service is defined as “the action of helping or doing work for someone”. Anytime you do for others, you do for HIM. Thank You!!

Happy Hot Summer!
I was beginning to wonder if we were ever going to endure the hot days of summer. I knew it was too hot when my cat went out to get the mail with me and quickly retreated to the house!
I am an interim fill in for the Leadership Chair. The new chair during my term will be Jane Potts, I've added a bio, and will be training her for the next few months.
My name is Jane Potts. My husband and I live and farm at Elsie. We raised three children in the home my grandfather built in 1912. We have seven grandchildren and just became great grandparents of a beautiful baby boy! I am retired from banking after 30 years. I have held many offices on the parish level and deanery level, but never on the diocesan level! I am looking forward to meeting everyone and growing in my FAITH!
LDCCW OFFICER ROSTER UPDATES
Please make sure your parish council and deanery rosters are up to date! We need to make sure all women are counted!
To make changes to the diocesan roster you can go to
and clicking on "comment" to add your updated information. This allows us to go in and make the changes to the roster, and also add emails to our Constant Contact list so officers receive News Notes (3 times a year) and Council Connect (monthly updates) from the LDCCW. If it's easier, email any changes to ldccwleadership@gmail.com, and we will make the changes for you. Hopefully we can continue to work together to keep our rosters as up to date as possible.
