Seems that all I ever do anymore is talk about the weather.
But boy, this last month was a beautiful May! Oh, wait, it was actually February! This last week sure seemed to bounce back somewhat as normal. Whatever normal is now... last week was cold for sure, but still no sizable rain. The grapes are fine, while most are still sleeping, but bud break is here or very close for some varieties:
We've seen some irrigating on various crops, which is very uncommon for our area at this time of year and I snapped a picture of a pear orchard that had run their sprinklers through a frosty night. (I've never seen icicles on pear trees).
Our crews are still pruning and tying varieties like Chenin Blanc, and Petite Sirah. I want to thank everybody coming out to the winery and hope you enjoy the vineyards and orchards and the landscape around you here and enjoy the changes that mother nature brings. Hope you stay warm or cool based on the weather today. Cheers.
