Thank you for signing up to receive information on the Brookfield Public Market and Visit Brookfield. We are excited to deliver this first inaugural newsletter to keep you in the loop.

Welcome — Let’s Talk About What We’re Building

If you’ve ever wished for a place in Brookfield where you could linger a little longer to meet a friend, discover something new, or simply feel connected — you’re not alone. That idea is exactly what inspired the Brookfield Public Market.

The Market is being designed as a multi-generational community hub and will be a place to gather year-round around food, local businesses, events, and shared experiences. It’s not a farmer’s market, and it’s not a food court. This is a third space you’ll want to return to. At Visit Brookfield, we’ve seen how intentional places can strengthen a community. The Brookfield Conference Center was a catalyst, and the Public Market is the next chapter that will bring a different kind of energy and rhythm to the heart of Brookfield.

We’re still early in the process, and that’s by design. This is a project being shaped with community input, and we’re glad you’re here at the beginning.

A Collaborative Effort for Brookfield

The Brookfield Public Market is a public–private partnership between the City of Brookfield, Irgens Development, and Visit Brookfield — bringing together public leadership, private development expertise, and destination development.

The City of Brookfield is committed to reinvesting in the former Boston Store site as a long-term community asset that supports economic vitality and quality of life. Irgens Development brings extensive experience in commercial real estate development, including complex projects that require thoughtful planning, efficient execution, and long-term viability. Visit Brookfield will lead destination development for the Brookfield Public Market — guiding the overall vision, programming, and community engagement while providing long-term stewardship to ensure the market serves residents and visitors year-round.

Together, the partnership is focused on creating a market that reflects Brookfield’s character, supports local and regional businesses, and delivers lasting value to the community.

Who is Visit Brookfield

Visit Brookfield works to strengthen Brookfield as a place to live, work, and visit by investing in experiences and destinations that bring people together. While many communities focus solely on promotion, Visit Brookfield has increasingly focused on destination development: helping shape projects that create long-term community value, support economic growth, and enhance quality of life.

The Brookfield Conference Center was a significant milestone in that work. It demonstrated what’s possible when Brookfield invests intentionally in places designed for gathering, connection, and impact.

The Brookfield Public Market builds on that momentum. It reflects a continued commitment to creating meaningful places designed not just to exist, but to be used, shared, and returned to.

What the Brookfield Public Market Will Be (and Won’t Be)

The Market will be a third space. It will be a place beyond home and work that's created to be part of everyday life in Brookfield. Inside the Market, visitors can expect a carefully curated mix of local and regional food makers, specialty retail, and flexible spaces for events, programming, and community gatherings. The experience will be welcoming, easy to return to, and adaptable to different needs and occasions.

Designed for Gathering, Flexibility, and Everyday Use

The Market is being planned with a mix of permanent vendor spaces, shared seating, and adaptable areas that can shift from everyday use to events, programming, and community activities. Thoughtful circulation, natural light, and open sightlines are intended to make the space feel approachable and easy to navigate whether you’re stopping in briefly or staying awhile.

The overall layout prioritizes connection: between vendors and visitors, between indoor and outdoor spaces, and between different parts of the Market itself. The goal is to create an environment that supports small businesses, encourages interaction, and accommodates everything from casual visits to larger community moments. As planning continues, the design will remain flexible — allowing the Market to evolve alongside programming, vendors, and community needs.

You’re Invited: Help Shape the Brookfield Public Market

Community input is a critical part of shaping the Brookfield Public Market, and we’re inviting you to be part of the conversation. We will be hosting two in-person public input sessions focused on vendor mix, programming, events, and how the Market can best serve the Brookfield community. These sessions are designed to be interactive and collaborative, and your ideas will help inform decisions as planning continues.

Seating is limited, and advance registration is required. We encourage you to sign up as soon as possible if you’re interested in attending.

Tell Us What's Missing in Brookfield

As planning for the Brookfield Public Market continues, we’re being intentional about the mix of food and retail vendors that will call the Market home. Our goal is to create a balanced, high-quality lineup that reflects the community, supports small and independent businesses, and fills gaps in Brookfield’s current food and retail landscape. That means being thoughtful about what belongs and what’s still missing. Whether you’re a resident with an idea, a local business owner, or someone who knows a great concept that would thrive here, we want to hear from you. Your input will help guide vendor outreach and inform decisions as the Market takes shape.

If you have thoughts on food, retail, or experiences you’d love to see at the Brookfield Public Market, we invite you to share them with us.

What Happens Next

Planning for the Brookfield Public Market is actively underway, with several key milestones ahead. Over the coming months, community input will help inform vendor outreach, programming concepts, and early operational planning. At the same time, the project team will continue design development and coordination in preparation for the next phase of work.

A targeted Summer 2026 groundbreaking is anticipated, followed by an approximately 12-month buildout. As planning progresses, we’ll continue to share updates and opportunities to stay involved. The Brookfield Public Market is an early step in a broader, long-term vision focused on strengthening Brookfield as a destination for everyday life — with more to come in the years ahead.

Stay Connected

This newsletter is the first step in an ongoing conversation about the Brookfield Public Market and about where Brookfield is headed next. There will be more to share in the months ahead as planning continues, vendors are identified, and ideas take shape. Along the way, we’ll continue to look for opportunities to engage the community, share progress, and invite input. If this vision resonates with you, we encourage you to stay connected and to share this update with others who care about Brookfield and the future of our community.

Thank you for being part of the conversation early. We’re glad you’re here!
