THE LORE-EL CENTER
Earlier in the semester, Lore-El welcomed Program Coordinators Eli Trakhtenberg, Melina DallaStella, Kaavya Raman, Tyler Wright, and Emily Kovelesky to the team. Along with Graduate Coordinator Veronika Paprocka, these five put together a wide-range of events from Professional Development, Arts & Culture, Civic & Social Action, Health & Wellness and Leadership Development to unify and educate campus-wide. Look out for their events this semester!

SUMMER BOOK CLUB READING
Over the summer, Diversity Education facilitated a book club for faculty and staff members on New York Times Best Seller
White Fragility
by Robin DiAngelo. Through reading and discussion, the book club provided a space for staff to explore the concepts of white fragility, racism, and unconscious bias. White Fragility can be rented out at the
Diversity Education Lending Library
located on the 10th Fl of Howe. See below for more information.

Women's Equality Day
On August 26th, Diversity Education took a closer look at the history of voting rights and encouraged Steven's students to register to vote. In addition to voter registration, this event highlighted the struggles for voter equality experienced by marginalized groups including women, Native Americans, and African Americans in the present and the past.

Diversity Education Dinner & Mingle
At this dinner, many student organizations had the chance to get to know each other better, and review Diversity Education’s History & Heritage Month calendar. This event also prompted opportunities for collaboration between cultural, LGBTQ+, and religious-based organizations, Cultural Greek orgs, and other representatives from Student Government.

WHAT'S HAPPENING ON CAMPUS?
|
|
oSTEM+TranSIT
Torch Alliance no longer stands alone as the sole LGBTQ+ student organization on campus. TranSIT (a transgender/gender nonconforming support group) and OUT in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics a.k.a oSTEM (a professional society dedicated to LGBTQ+ individuals) have been #OnTheRise!
(If you want your organization to be featured in this section email ldelman@stevens.edu!)

"When you leave you must remember to come back for the others. A circle, understand? You will always be Esperanza. You will always be Mango Street. You can't erase what you know. You can't forget who you are..."

About Diversity Education:
Diversity Education takes on many forms at Stevens including programs such as heritage months, awareness weeks, affinity luncheons, Safe Zone Ally training, facilitated discussions, workshops, and invited guest speakers. All programs are created through an intentionally intersectional lens. Through this programming, the Office of Undergraduate Student Life seeks to:
- foster a deeper understanding of equity and inclusion
- cultivate safe(r) spaces for all Stevens community members
- empower Stevens students, faculty, and staff
