Three pillars guide Macedonia FACE’s partnership with the community:
- Racial Equity
- Servant Leadership
- Community Engagement
As part of all new employee’s orientation to the agency, Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Trisha Gadson, recently conducted a Racial Equity Training to assure that all staff are competent and comfortable addressing racial equity issues in the course of their work. During the training, staff members were encouraged to share their personal experiences of racial discrimination and to raise their awareness regarding the barriers that are faced by community members who contact FACE for support.
With the mission to encourage the development of healthy families and living out that mission by addressing disparities that impact the African American family, Dr. Gadson conveyed the importance of understanding that disparities are often created and maintained through policies and practices that contain barriers to opportunity. The only way to close equity gaps is with an intentional focus on race. Macedonia FACE staff are expected to be educated about social and racial injustice and to speak up and discuss -not be bystanders – in addressing policies and practices that create opportunity gaps.
