Welcome to FOTL

The FOTL (Friends of the Library) is a group of people, like you, committed to making and keeping the libraries in our community as centers for innovation, learning, and creativity. The La Porte County Public Library is more than just books and magazines - it's a safe place for all members of the community to go to expand their horizons and seek their unlocked potential.

What do the FOTL do?

We are a group of civic minded people who want to make a difference in the lives within our communities. From after school education efforts supported by a locally funded snack program to community engagement events building the workforce of tomorrow, we support our library system and its mission of excellence.

Did You Know?

Did You Know our library system is so awesome that it's the 2019 Outstanding Library Award recipient? That is a recognition of excellence in cooperative partnerships, expansion of services, community programs, and more. This award isn't given for just books, it's given for innovation, impact, and ingenuity. This means our library is something unique and exceptional.

Did You Know that the La Porte County Public Library (LPCPL) teaches the community the skills of tomorrow? LPCPL Labs teaches Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) to students of all ages and walks of life! We do 3D Printing, Soldering Kits, Robotics, Design, and more. We make STEAM something digestible for anyone who wants to learn and grow.

Did You Know you can check out curriculum kits for students K-12 for six weeks at a time? The kits tie directly into Indiana academic subject areas across all curricular subjects giving students an opportunity to learn, grow, and excel at will. Here at the LPCPL it's not about how fast you learn, it's about you learning at your speed.
