Healthy Holiday Challenge 2024

Week 1

November 4-8

“Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan.”

– Tom Landry

This Week's Theme:

Planning Your Challenge

Welcome to this year's Healthy Holiday Challenge! As we progress through the challenge over the next six weeks, we will cover a wide variety of topics related to different dimensions of our health and well-being. With the holidays around the corner, this challenge is a fantastic opportunity to kickstart your personal goals.

Each week during this challenge, the newsletters and daily postcards will tie into the weekly theme. To start off the challenge, this week will focus on Planning Your Challenge. Implementing effective behavior change can be challenging regardless of the scale of the change and in order to make the most of this year's challenge, we encourage you to take the time to plan. Understanding your motivation, goals, and common challenges will allow you to plan your progress and increase the likelihood that you not only achieve your behavior change, but maintain it as well. Follow along with the weekly post cards as we will plan out our challenge goals, intentions, and progress! For those who want to get started, we encourage you to take a look at the featured video and build your SMART goals for the challenge!

As we get our week started, we encourage you to take some time to think about your intentions with the Healthy Holiday Challenge and what you are hoping to accomplish by the end of the program. Regardless of what goals you have, there are many resources that can help you along the way! Explore the resources throughout the newsletter as well as the ones on the postcards for additional support.

This Week's Events

Creativity and Your Well-Being:

Furoshiki Gift Wrapping

Thu Nov 7 | 12:10-1pm

Tang Center, Ed Center

Furoshiki is a reusable Japanese cloth that can be used to wrap gifts, as well as groceries, books, or many other items. This sustainable alternative to wrapping paper is versatile - it can be used to wrap irregularly shaped items - and can be part of the gift itself! Learn how to make your own without any sewing and how to wrap some common gifts. We will provide limited supplies but you may opt to bring your own fabric such as an old bedsheet/pillowcase or a square scarf (ideally 3 ft square or more) as well as a small gift to wrap.
