Meet your teachers...
Ginny East Shaddock - Owner & Director
ginny
Ginny East Shaddock is an ERYT-500 yoga teacher, RCYT (Registered Children's Yoga Teacher) a certified yoga therapist with IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists), a Reiki Master and a trained Ayurveda Counselor from the Kerala Institute, India. She has a BA in Business Management from Eckerd College and a Masters of Fine Arts in creative writing from Lesley University.

Her extensive background in dance, writing, yoga and the healing arts have helped her create a multi-faceted school with an educational program that combines arts awareness, physical training and mind-body awareness for ever-broadening learning experiences. She is the director Heartwood Yoga Institute, and the founder of the Florida Reiki Association, as well as Yoga for the Balanced Child, a YA certification program designed to qualify teachers to share yoga with children ages 3-teen.

Rachel Belle - Lead trainer
Rachel is a certified ERYT-500 teacher and RCYT (Children's yoga teacher) with Yoga Alliance and an LMT currently studying to become a C-IAYT Yoga Therapist. She previously owned and operated Beyond the Mat Yoga studio in Bradenton, FL from 2017-2019 and is thrilled to be at Heartwood Yoga Institute as the lead trainer and office manager. Rachel is also a resident Massage Therapist at Heartwood offering customized sessions utilizing aromatherapy, reiki, cupping, sound healing and more for the ultimate healing experience.

The discovery of yoga has offered Rachel the opportunity to connect with her mind, body and breath at a spiritual level that has transformed her life from the inside out. Rachel came to yoga after a spiral through addiction which left her empty and reaching for more to life’s purpose. This was motivation for her to get to know herself on a deeper level through yoga. Her studies have brought her to a place in her life that she says is unimaginable. “It’s almost like I have lived two separate lives now”. Her classes relieve stress and anxiety, improve balance and flexibility and increase an overall sense of calmness.

Rachel's goal as a teacher is to share yoga with people of all backgrounds and experience levels. She believes that yoga has the power to change everyone's life for the better.

Rachel spent many years as a Certified Surgical Technologist working in the OR specializing in orthopedics before transitioning to a health centered path. She is also a Certified Personal Trainer. As a "lover of all things hard", Rachel specializes in Aerial Yoga, Ashtanga and advanced postures.

In addition to our academic materials, our Yoga Sutra studies will invite you to do exercises to help process and better understand the teachings. You will receive the Philosophy portion of this training in- person. During which we invite you to participate in an art journaling exercise that will be devoted exclusively to your sutra studies. All supplies will be provided for you during your immersion. However, we encourage you to continue this project at home. If this project resonates with you then when you return home some basic art materials may need to be purchased so that you can continue studying in this way. (More will be explained on this when you begin the course).
Let's get started!

8 DAY
In-person Immersion

If you are inspired to visit our facility and go deeper into the experiential portion of training, we now offer an 8 day in person immersion
April 13-20, 2024
Please notify the office ASAP to secure your spot in this immersion.
This immersion includes all food, snacks and materials. It is offered to students enrolled in the Hybrid 300 but may be added at an additional fee if any students studying exclusively online decide they would like to add it later.
(Housing is offered for a separate fee and can be reserved through the office)

The in-person component supports experiential learning and is inspirational and vital to one's personal development as a yogi. We have completed a number of online trainings that did not include any time here at Heartwood and the feedback has been that they wished they had some portion of the training in-person.
